Fridge not getting cold enough

Integrated fridge, a few years old maybe 5... I pulled it out to see if maybe it was getting too hot and gave the back a good clean. Only getting down to about 9°C though.

Can anything be done or is it new fridge time?

Turn it off for a day - let all accumulated ice defrost. Switch back on?

Works for my fridge-freezer about once a year!

Probably new fridge time.

I was in the same situation a couple of months ago with a 10 year old integrated Neff larder fridge in a tall end unit.

I tried defrosting to no avail.

The problem turned out to be low coolant and I was advised not to have the coolant topped up since the problem would come back in a few months since the leak wouldn't be fixed.

I didn't want to spend ~£1k on a replacement and decided to remove the unit and buy a stand alone fridge at almost half the cost and I am very happy with my decision.

problem we had on a Zanussi was timer that is meant to switch on the automatic defrost once a day (and fan), this had failed giving build up off ice reducing efficiency around the internal coolant pipes (can get them on ebay)
Did contemplate buying a freezer alarm after that too.
( If it is this is will work for a while after a manual de-frost )

-update- comment about defrost irrelevant since not a freezer or combo

Absolutely this - we foolishly bought a new integrated larder fridge but after struggling with the stupid way the door opened (couldn't access drawers) just ripped the fitted unit out and at some point we will buy freestanding as they are so much cheaper.

Also you may want to see if it needs a clean behind the unit - should be done fairly regularly. I think poor ventilation behind can make a difference too.

OK so looking at replacements... Mine is the type that fits nicely with a plinth running along the bottom like the one in this link but it seems a much better use of space to go for this type Link

Question is, what modifications will I need to make to get the later to work with my units? guess a new door front?

Is there a freezer below the fridge? If so I bet there is a build up of ice in the freezer which is blocking the air flow. This happened to me about s month ago. I took the draws out the fridge, took the cover off and defrosted it with a hair dryer. It's been fine ever since.

Apparently it's caused by overfilling or objects touching the back of the fridge.
