I'm currently in Germany and have just kerbed the car, thanks to a nice German driver. The front wheel has a few nice scores in it :( .
Luckily I bought my own damage insurance in the UK (insurance 4 hire car) so I assume that I just let the hire company see the damage, and get fleeced with the deposit of 300 Euro, then inform my insurance when I get home?

Ive just dropped mine back at Boston Logan and i managed to ding a wheel, not badly but obvious. Quick Google finds local wheel repair, 2 mins of touch up and good as new. Also removed some case scuffs not caused by me but wanted gone as not on sheet. :)

A few years ago I properly kerbed a wheel that would have written the wheel off I suspect. The guy picked up on it when I handed it back so couldn't really deny it.

What he didn't pick up on, and too my horror when I noticed it, was that I had hit the kerb so hard that the actual front wing was actually now 5mm higher up than the bonnet next to it :o

Err you realise US rentals booked from the UK are fully inclusive with zero excess CDW, right?

I wasnt sure on the excess and i got to sit in a Countach for 20 dollars so

Just realised, I can drop the car off and just put the key in a box at the airport, with no checks. Seems a bit weird if they don't check the car until afterwards?

It'll be in the terms and conditions that you leave it there at /your/ risk and that if it gets damaged before they can check it, it's on your head.

Unlikely that this will ever happen, but I'd always get it signed off before leaving it.

They'll attribute any damage to you, so they can't lose.. only you can lose from this method of dropoff.

OK will talk to them when I drop the car off. Prefer everything above board anyway.
