Secret Agent Arsene is not working on getting a top striker in. Who is there that would fit the bill and who would go to Arsenal. There really are not that many top strikers about and they are all at some of the biggest clubs in the world already. You simply can't keep that sort of deal quiet either.

I think if an £80m striker was on the cards, his agent would pimping him out across Europe.

I just think Wenger sees Arsenal's money like it's his own or he honestly believes he has enough quality in his squad.

Yep agreed, funnily one of my mates said the same thing that he thinks Wenger spends arsenals money like its his own...tight fisted git that he is lol.

But on a serious note, I'm kinda struggling to name a striker that would really improve us. The ones we have been linked with aren't really that much better than what we have now. So in a funny way I can see where Wenger is coming from, when he says it's hard to find quality. But on the other hand there is plenty of quality out there, just Wenger doesn't want to take the chance?? Maybe he's scared they will fail but look at Mahrez at Leicester...up until last season no one had heard of him but Leicester got him and he turned out to be quality.

As for an 80mill player?? No chance in hell would Wenger pay that much for a player. Even if the player wanted to come, Wenger would be non non non:p.

Castles? For somebody so informed he's quite hit and miss.

He has also listed Blind as for sale, but he's played more game time in the pre-season than anyone else excluding Bailey. If he doesn't want him, why play him and not Jones or Rojo.

Personally, I think its more significant that he brought Mata on when we were searching for a goal on Sunday rather than bringing Mhkitaryan on.

The uncertainty of Rooney's performances and position, would have me keeping Mata as he's a much better no 10 in my opinion.

I wouldnt be surprised if JM played a few players as a mini advert to who is available , Rojo played a few games and he is definitely available (although not going easily, not that he should have course)

Is rojo genuinely on 100k/week. I find that hard to believe. He wasn't a big name and we didn't pay big money for him.

There's been plenty of pimping out of top strikers over the last few months, loads of rumours flying about, who knows whether any of them have any truth.

Probably a bit of both, which you can understand since he doesn't have an unlimited amount of transfer money.

There'still plenty of time to get a deal done but Wenger believes in his current squad obviously, it's hard to add to it really, if a Lewandowski was available and ready to move, i don't think Arsenal would have any trouble offering them enough money and enticing them to the Emirates, that's if Real Madrid kept their noses out of it.

We paid 17 million for him and had to prise him away. He's like more aggressive and worse in the tackle than Gabriel Heinze, which takes a lot of doing to be fair.

We have too many average players, carrick, Fellaini, mata, schneiderlin, really you could sell them all and bring in a couple of decent ones instead. Pogba helps in one way, but we need more.

Still wondering what the plan is for Jones...

all the links I can see say his wages are about £70k a week but that's bad enough (that could just be basic, without app bonus etc etc)

Sporting also get a 20% cut of anything over £18.4m if we manage to sell him

The Times are reporting that Fonte has asked to leave Southampton, yesterday's rumours of Manchester United being after him might be true.

supposedly informal talks have started over an £8m deal, mainly I believe because Bailly will disappear for ~2 months or whatever for ACoN duty in Jan.

Bit of a meh signing (relatively short term cover given his age, 2-3 years absolute max at a guess) when all the press at the start of the summer -and even now -where talking about Verane or Marquinos , latter whispers have completely died out over the last month or so without any explanation.

Sad if true, he's been with Southampton through thick and thin but it was odd for him not to start yesterday, given nothing had been said about lack of fitness.

Wenger apparently having faith in Sanchez and Walcott up front. Hopefully more game playing to reduce fees but I have a feeling not. I think both have the ability but the history is hugely against them.

I think Walcott could do a blinding ten match run of scoring but I think that's maybe his limit before he cools off or gets injured.

Same if vardy would have signed, not sure Walcott is the type of forward Arsenal need. Giroud is more suited and despite the hate for him I think it would be wrong to get rid of him. He just needs to be more consistent with his scoring or someone else similar to him that can jump in when needed.

I can't confirm this but "apparently" Mustafi was due at London Colney today for his medical but this has been put on hold due to both clubs not yet reaching an agreement on the fee.

Just pay the £30mil Wenger.
