:p

As above really,

Anybody here actuality bought stuff from China directly via Alibaba.com (Or similar)?

Is it reasonably safe, or a guaranteed way of getting totally reamed out in the Bowel department?

:p

Yep. If you don't mind waiting a month for delivery. Never had a problem. Especially good for buying in bulk

Whats the quality like?

Been tempted to pick uoa few things but never sure if theyre all just gonna be blatent fakes.

As when you read the chinglish adverts they often contradict themselves on specs (say on leds)

That is the question?

The sort of stuff I am interested in buying is the stuff that is made in China anyway but if you buy it "Locally" you will end up paying three (or more) times as much feeding middle men who do nothing for our economy.

I am all for supporting domestic manufacturers where appropriate, but I would prefer to go straight to the organ grinder if the stuff is coming from China anyway

Its not though. You can find lots of people reviewing random Chinese stuff on YouTube and other forums.
You can employ many of the same things you would do on eBay.
If its to good to be true, then don't buy.

Alibaba has particular problems with third parties who supply fake goods. Since they've been looking to properly expand into markets outside of China they announced (last year I think) that they were looking into technological ways to combat the problem. Whether that's working now I don't know, but do be aware that you could end up with fake goods (which technically could be seized on import).

Your argument there assumes that the speed of getting your item, the speed of getting a replacement in the case of a fault, after-sales care, warranty, and having a UK registered company supplying the products in the event of a legal issue add no value to the finished product.

i buy stuff from aliexpress all the time. i think i've bought like over 2000 items since i started.

you can order a PS4 HDMI Chip for like £8-10 then sell it on ebay uk for £18. PS vita screen for £20. ebay uk sell them for £26.

if you dont receive your items then you can pretty much get your money back thru dispute.

Ordered loads. As long as you expect Chinese quality and make sure you order from verified sellers you'll be ok, provided you can wait a while for delivery (longest I've waited is 7 weeks for some USB risers).

I actually asked a seller once to convince me that they're legit and the lady left her office there & then and emailed me a load of photos of the factory. The Chinese may have a bit of a bad rep but I can't fault the service I've had, as far as my experience goes they really go above and beyond to meet demands.

Bought several knock off cycling jerseys from ali express. 30+ rides and 15+ washes later and it's still going as new! relitively fast shipping and no hidden fees to pay! I'd steer clear of electronics section though.

Bought losts of stuff from gearbest, all deliverd within the month and i got the stuff and thats good, just dont expect it next day (maybe 3 weeks).
Long story short short expect to wait atleast 2 weeks, more like a month but its all good
