Summer Transfer Window 2016/17 - Rumours & Signings

I can't confirm this but "apparently" Mustafi was due at London Colney today for his medical but this has been put on hold due to both clubs not yet reaching an agreement on the fee.

Just pay the £30mil Wenger.

If only he would lol. I'm really not sure why he's delaying the signing. He knows we desperately need an experienced CB and Mustafi is pretty experienced. Thought he did well at the Euro's, seems like a tidy player so what's the hold up??

Just sign him, get him match fit so he can play games. Same applies for a striker, still being linked with Lacazette, yes it's stupid money but if we want him then it needs to be paid as galling as the fee would be. But then who is to blame for that?? Wenger and his dilly dallying in the transfer market...same **** different year as I like to say.

Plus imagine how Özil and Sanchez must be feeling?? Obviously they want to win titles and trophies but they aren't seeing enough quality signings. Makes me think that Wenger does this on purpose but in the end, it's us fans that lose out when our best players leave because they don't see Wenger make the signings we need to win a title.

If Arsenal miss out on CL this season I would think Ozil and Sanchez will want to leave unless they see huge spending next season. Even if you get top 4 I reckon you will struggle to keep them. Why would players of their calibre want to look back at the best years of their career and think "I could have won so much more"

Exactly, the fact they both of them aren't interested in signing new contracts as well.

A few mths back Juve were sniffing around Sanchez but we told them no and they backed off. I expect next summer teams will make a play for them, Özil intimated that he wouldn't say no to going to back to Real.

Unless we win a title and trophies this season, I fully expect them to leave for better teams.

I was reading Henry's thoughts on Arsenal and it made a lot of sense, in that I don't think Arsenal is a team that these top players want to come to anymore.

Would Real want him? Wont they be after the next galactico rather than an ex-player? Maybe Bayern is an option but they arent exactly desperate in that area of the field.

Whats he on, will his wages be a struggle for any other (non EPL) team apart from Bayern, Real and maybe Juve? (Excluding Barca because with MSN, would they be able to afford another mega signing and would they want to try anyway?)

I can only really see Ozil back in Germany or at Juve.

Whys that?

Any of the big teams in the PL would take either of those players off Arsenals hands. They sold RvP to United a few years ago and I don't get the impression Arsene would stop a player going where he wants.

Where do you think Ozil would go in the EPL (and that would be able to pay him £150k ~ or whatever a week)?

Cant see him at Chelsea, Utd, City or Liverpool really - Spurs maybe (only saying that because there are reports of issues with Eriksen's contract) , can you?

I would rule out Liverpool and Spurs, both managers like pressing and Ozil is too languid for that. I'm sure both teams would snap Arsenals hand off for Sanchez though.

Ozil could possibly work at Chelsea but it depends on what system Conte wants to play (he's better than Oscar anyway). After signing Pogba and Mkhitaryan, United doesn't make sense.

And City have Silva.

Any one of United, Chelsea and City would be able to fit him in to their first XI. United don't have a set world class AM, neither do Chelsea. Silva seems to be played more on the wing than as a traditional AM as well a lot of the time.

He is nearly 28 already, by the time any deal would happen he would be practically 29, and given how much RvP cost - what would he cost in the current crazy market - £40 - 50m maybe more?

Absolutely no way to justify that for 1 maybe 2 seasons (and we would probably HAVE to give him more than that)

Just not practical in the slightest (without even considering how Utd would fit him in which would just hold back either Martial / Depay possibly Mkharyran, maybe even Pereira.

Also not sure there is any space at City given Sane has just joined, Silva and De Bruyne (and Stirling)

Arsenal are now being linked with Fonte - absolutely laughable if we sign him. Not downplaying his abilities as a defender, but he is older than both Mertesacker and Koscielny - that is hardly what we need, another ageing CB.
