Guys,

There was a thread a while back where a few people recommended a white silicone sealant product that categorically does not go moldy. Searched, but could not find.

I'm sick of re-sealing our shower every year due to mold patches. This is the last time I want to do it.

Does anyone remember?

For reference, I've used Uni-bond Anti-Mold stuff so far, but any areas where water can pool, go moldy.

I may be talking out of my rear here but I think a lot of the mould issues with silicon is down to the application of it as the water can get under the edge of it and never dries out. Could be wrong though but thats what it looks like on mine!

I've used the white version of this and so far seems great - just don't lick your finger and smooth it out.

Bought it, will re-seal over weekend. Saw Dow in Wickes, will try that next if this doesn't work.

Agreed on application being key. Will ensure old spores removed, and area clean\dry.

Always lick my finger to smooth out silicone. Wipe it with rag each time though.

Have Dow Corning 785 in my bathroom and also skirting/tile joins on entire ground floor. Brilliant stuff.

Dow Corning here as well, had to re-do the shower less than a year after a trade install, went on nice and looks spot on. Couple of quid from screwfix I think, can't really go wrong.

Dow Corning always. However application plays a big part. Any slight ripple or bobbly bits will attract water to ingress and form mould. The angle of the bead is also important. After doing a few you get the nack of it.

Application helps, but no amount of prep will stop mould forming on rubbish silicones. The forever white stuff seems to be very good, its stayed mould free in my bathroom where 3 different types of anti fungal silicones failed before it. I'm guessing the Dow corning silicone is a similar product with a decent anti fungal added.

Them fugi kits seem to be great. Probably your best bet to make sure you have done everything possible to avoid mould forming. The fugi should give a nice clean edge so water cant sit, unlike using tape which will always allow a little ridge to form where the silicon bead joins the bath/tiles. Or using your finger which will make a very fine edge which could fray and allow water to get under.
