980Ti or GTX 1070 considering price difference?

Should I be going for the older 980ti or the newer GTX 1070? The 1070 is generally about £60-70 more than the 980Ti at the moment.

Is the new tech (1070) cooler and quieter than the 980Ti and is it worth me forking out a little more?

I'm also interested in my card being cool and quiet.

Thanks.

I was going for a 980ti but opted for a Evga FTW 1070 yes they are quieter and cooler, performance is about the same, the good 980 ti's can pull a way a little in the benchmarks when both are overclocked I think, But over time the 1070 could possibly be better in that regard also with drivers.

Nice bike btw do more videos!

Thanks and thanks! :) I think I'll go with the newer 'pascal' tech but just wanted to put it passed you guys before making any decision. :)

1920x1200 for now but potentially more in the near future. My 7950 is just far too slow these days.

in that case, go with whichever you feel best

id say very high res the 980ti would be a better option

also take into consideration, if you can get a high end 980 ti but only afford a low end 1070 id rather get a high end 980 ti

asus matrix 980 ti & zotac amp extreme come to mind  & only £369

Does the res make a difference? I am in the same position for ultrawide 3440 x 1440...

Will consider going the EVGA route for if I make a horrible mistake and need to upgrade!

I had a 1070 at 3440 x 1440 would not recommend it personally
my 980ti/titan x did much better

I think its down to the low memory bandwidth, 1080 on the other hand is much much better

With 2Gb less vram? I know a wider memory bus can help in some situations but if you go over 6Gb ram usage (but under 8Gb) the 1070's going to best the 980ti by a lot....

The memory bandwidth of the 980ti vs 1070ti is 336.5 vs 256 so not massive and you can easily overclock the memory (to be fair on both cards) by quite a bit is its an issue.

in some games @ 3440 x 1440 it was doing terrible :(

even in BF4 it dropped to 28fps when something exploded and that never ever happened to me lol
