Nvidia should have named this the 1080 shaved off a few more cuda cores so it's not as close to 6gb 1060 and call it the 1050. A 1060 3gb will have to be sub £150 otherwise a £170 470 4gb would be a much better bet. 3gb in 2016 yuck....
What was ironic about my post? It might well be a 3GB cut down shader card but it isn't confusing to me or others. There will be bench results like other cards and people can see what they are buying. I certainly am not confused at all and know what I am buying whenever I buy anything. There was nothing sarcastic about my post.
Just people had enough about the misleading naming shame as before it happened from both vendor. Think about GT 7xx series. 3 different configurations. The community always going to pick on these things, no matter what brand.

Why not just call it Titan X
If AMD disappears this could be the level of future Titan Xs.

Need a 12GB GDDR2 version to sell to the purple shirt numpties.
+1, even if it didn't come with any display outputs NVIDIA would still sell more cards than AMD did in 2015.
Personally i am thinking about RX 480 with water cooling on it. I can use the cooler for the next card as i have now on my CPU. To reach 1500 mhz with RX 480 reference card is more than enough , as it happens here:

Who cares? Everybody who's interested in buying the 1060 3gb. You might not pay that, but plenty of other people will.
No, if they had any sense they would get the 470 or save up for the 6gb, £200 for 3gb in 2016 is pathetic. £150 is were it should be at.
naw more likely the 6gb was meant to be called the 1060TI but the office junior again put 1060 on the memo instead of 1060TI!
A lot of people won't be even remotely as informed as you or half the guys on here. A lot of newbies would walk into a pc hardware store and pick up a 1060 3gb thinking "oh cool it's just the same thing but bit less memory" and not read the box at the back and see that it is gimped.
For me it's almost as confusing as the Titan X compared to the Titan X only this time I expect to at least see 3gb on the box (At the front).

I don't sympathise with those newbies. So many places to access all the info you would ever need to help purchase decisions. Anyways, no interest from me on this 3GB card in truth but they are pretty quick for little money, so will do people proud.
