Hi all :)

Since I've installed my new graphics card I've had quite a lot of random system crashes/freezes. :(
This happens a lot when I'm downloading or updating things especially on Origin or trying to play games, But sometimes nothing is even running!

When I start a game the screen turns grey and green & Purple colours flash at top of screen for about half a second
before the game starts and when I shut them down same thing happens!
But they usually just crash after a few mins of play (Need to reset PC).
I have all the latest drivers installed for the card and my motherboard plus it has the latest bio's installed.
I only changed the graphics card, everything else remains the same,
And I used amdcleanuputility to get rid of the old drivers before installing the new ones.

Another thing my bio's screen doesn't show up properly anymore big black blocks appear across the screen, I'm using a HDMI port on a lcd TV.

Anyone got any idea's

Do you have the gaming evolved app running,i saw in another thread some guy was getting a lot of crashes, until he stopped the gaming evolved app from running.

Are you able to test the GPU in another system, and are you able to test your system with another PSU, just to see if your PSU is the problem? I would also try a fresh install on a spare hard drive or a new partition, just to be 100% sure it's not a problem caused by drivers or software.

i had a similar issue with both of my nitros... the 4 central GPU screws of the heatpipe havent been fastened properly. i tightend them a bit that solved the problem.

Do you have compatibility mode enabled or disabled in your BIOS?

It's enabled.

I deleted the gaming evolved app but I'm still getting a few crashes, Not as many as before but still about 1 an hour
(when gaming)

Are you able to test the GPU in another system, No :(

I think my PSU should be okay it's only a few of months old, and worked fine on this system with 2 older graphics cards I got rid of.

I might try a fresh install but I'll try a few more options before doing this.

I'll try this if I can't get anything else to work ;)

Thanks for your help
I'm going to muck around with it a little more now!
Whats a good program to bench test the graphic card? and any other test programs for my PC to check all's running okay?

In the AMD Radeon settings I went to the global settings and put Compatibility Mode on and it now seems to be working a lot better :D
I played GTA V for about 3Hrs without any crashes or stutters but when I paused it (to make a tea) it had crashed when I tried to unpause it

What is Compatibility Mode? Is it slowing down my card? It doesn't say anything about it in the settings.

I believe that forces the card to draw no more than 75w through the PCI-E slot. It shouldn't make much difference to the running of your card.
