according to https://carleasingmadesimple.com/data/skoda/superb/gross-vehicle-weight/ a 2.0 tdi with dsg is about 2100kg. I think that sign claims the trailer tent is at max 950kg. So you're under the 3500kg limit (even if you've got the heaviest Superb at 2,275 kg, that trailer tent is ok). i think...
 
The Superb brochure concurs with what Dereks saying. A Superb with a 950kg trailer will be within the 3500kg MAM.

However the brochure also states that the superb is rated for towing either 750kg unbraked or 2000kg braked. If the trailer tent isn't a braked trailer, then it would be over the rated towing limit for an unbraked trailer. Or am I wrong?
 
I believe with well known car trailers such as Brian James etc. you can have them "down-plated" (e.g. to downrate a 1500kg trailer to say 1100kg if that is what your trailer+load weighs) in order to help keep things within the MAM limit.

If you have a big car transporter and have say a 3series on the back and its plated at 1100kg the DVLA will take a dim view of that :P

Yes, when they escort you to a weighbridge I imagine :)


It's purely to help with e.g. 2000kg rated towcar + plated 1800kg trailer would be over the limit (even if trailer+load was only 1300kg).
You could have the trailer "down-plated" to 1400kg still leaving some margin.
 
To answer the first question you just need L plates, don't forget to inform your insurance company you're driving as a learner with a trailer on though...
