1080 FE @ 2136Mhz!

My FE will chug along at 2114 24/7

Seems all those pimped out cards with all the extra power phases ain't got nothing over the FE if water cooling them.

Yeah sounds about right. The vast majority of cards do 2080-2114 so 2136 isn't a big outlier.

thing is with pascal, there is very little variety so 2136 is a big deal and very few cards hit that speed. Of course its only a tiny gap.

Like you say, most hit 2080-2114 so long as they have sufficient cooling. I have seen some lemons which can only hold 2000. Equally the cream only reach around 2150 as well.

so between the very best clocking golden gpu and the worst you only see 7.5% difference which will be around 4% in games.

Between the normal overclock speeds and the very best you only see 2 to 3% difference in speeds which equates to 1 to 2% in games. so on one card you might have 60 fps and on the other you will see 61 fps max.

There used to be a much bigger difference in previous gens between max and typical overclock speeds.

In fact pascal is awful for the high AIB card makers like EVGA and Asus as there really is no justification for anybody to pay an extra £100 for their high end overclocked custom cards as you gain nothing.

So unless i got a card which could only 2000 max, i wouldn't bother returning it.

No cause every card has the same voltage and TDP limit.

Perhaps if we see unlocked bios voltage and adjust TDP then the AIB custom cards might open a gap up.

But even then I expect to only see a 100Mhz boost to 2200 for air and 2300-2400 for water cooled cards.

AGain its only a 5% overclock gain so minimal framerate gain.
