Having recently sold on my 4670/gtx970 off machine I'm looking to up my game. this system has to be SFF and sit under a shelf with only 18cm of vertical clearance. opinions please gurus. could i do anything better?

Thanks.. was thinking about future proofing. I'm sure there will be a new graphics card in a couple of years that will prob need more power. so maybe i'll go for 600w then.

FYI a lot of the Silverstone SFX-L power supplies have an issue of loud clicking under load, speaking from experience it is really annoying and I wouldn't recommend. I would choose the Corsair SF series instead, they are very high quality units and come in 450 and 600w flavours.

I'm confused how the GPU fits in this case, it looks like you need a extension cable or something. Can somebody educate me please as I like the look of this.

You'll find temperatures better if you go for a GPU with a blower cooler as you'll be venting the hot air outside the case.

Exhausting the hot air out the back is a big plus for blower style coolers however I have found in normal situations they are hotter and louder and a good dual or triple fan cooler can still perform better and more quietly.

You will get higher case temps and probably CPU temps though with a dual or triple fan style due to the hot air expelled from thr down draft fans. That's where the RVZ02 is good with compartmentation of the CPU and GPU chambers.

I have a Silverstone RVZ02 which has the same sort of riser system and orientation, pretty cool :)

Hey cheers mate, I really like this, i've had a few fractal cases and although they are not exactly premium i've never had any problems building in them.

Im on haswell now with a 290, so when the new intel chip arrives ill definately look at upgrading and adding a 1080ti.

Ive saved that video on my youtube :D

Thanks for that, my last build used a Silverstone RVZ02 which is a passively cooled case. I used a reference gtx970 in that and found the fans always running high and loud. So as this case is fan cooled with 2x 120mm fans, I'm planning running them for static pressure and using an open air type this time. Hopefully the positive pressure inside will move enough air to keep it cool and relatively quiet.

On a side note. What are people's opinions on swapping the 1080 for a 980ti. I'm planning on using this setup on a 4K tv and hopefully running 4K res. I know I can leave AA off at these resolutions and gain FPS. Will a 980ti run games at lower settings at 4K though?

The RVZ01-E makes more room for an AIO and a full sized PSU( up to 15mm width which most are) and by taking out the removable SSD tray in the center(I'd advise to do this anyway) it gives plenty of room.

The NH-L9i is pretty poor. It's good for its size, but it's not really much better than a stock cooler.

I recommend the Scythe Big Shuriken 2 to go with the 202.

I recently built a mini itx gaming rig as well. i have the psu you have mentioned and i'm not having any problems with it so far.

Maybe go for a reference gpu cooler to improve your internal temperatures? your cpu cooler will thank you.

i went for this cooler https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-ph-tc12ls-120mm-cpu-cooler-hs-016-pt.html

Had to lower my volt down to 1.25 to give me acceptable temps when gaming (creeps up to 68 degrees sometimes but generally stays in the 62-64 range. bare in mind my case has no intake fans

I'm doing a couple of builds for myself at the moment, both ITX - but one of them is based on the Corsair Bulldog - I checked with OC/UK and they have no plans to stock it so I ordered it elsewhere.

The thing I like about it most is that its been designed so that you can have CPU and GPU cooling.

For anyone interested here's what I went for on the final build.

Cooler selection was decided by the tiny 56mm of clearance this case provides so I didn't have much choice. I also removed the m.2. In my eyes a decent SSd is plenty fast and reliable for gaming.

GPU, I decided against a noisey exhaust reference cooler as I e previously had noise issues with these. So I went for the open air type and added two corsair Sp fans to the build, these sit directly under the card.
