Hey guys,

I may have stabled my 4.6Ghz OC but obviously would like some opinions on my Temps and Vcore.

After 15mins running Intel Burn test, max temp was 73c but avg was 65-70c. I'm pretty sure these temps are pretty good. I'm only using a gelid Tranquilli heatsink as well.

My Vcore on full-load is 1.345, is this too high? I feel like it might be a bit too much :(.

I have the Asrock Extreme 4 gen 3 Z68 motherboard and the main setting regarding Voltage is:

Additional Turbo Voltage is set on: +0.020v
CPU Voltage Offset: +0.010v

I'm pretty sure Additional Turbo Voltage means what it says, that when CPU is on full load, it gives the Vcore an additonal +0.020v.

I might try lowering the additional voltage to perhaps +0.010v? However, when watching a youtube video, someone has theirs on +0.075? Da *** haha

Hopefully you guys can help me :).

No problem with that voltage :) I ran my 2700k 4.8GHz 1.368v for a couple of years.

I had it under water, was able to push more than 1.4v through it before temps became insane running IBT. It really does stress the CPU more than you will gaming or whatever, you'll be safe enough to bump the voltage a bit higher if needed.

Thanks for the quick reply Bluntwrapped :)

I'm glad to hear the news, I might stick with the settings and do some gaming to see how it is.

Infact my Vcore was jumping between 1.345-1.370, so I'm guessing this is still fine? Is Vcore okay as long as temps are low?

I would like to go as low as possible with Vcore tbh but it seems stable right now.

One question. How much is the performance increase going from 4.2Ghz to 4.6Ghz?

1.4v would be your limit but 1.35v would be better. I would look to check other settings which may impact the effectiveness of the overclock. This was my 2500k back in the day:

Enable Power Saving, C3 and C6
Set LLC to Level 3
CPU vcore offset to +0.010v
VTT to 1.10
Multi x45

Pretty sure my settings are similar to yours actually. My temps are looking good, just played a game and temps never went above 62c

Sounds like you've got it stable then, that's good! Are you running x45 or x46? Either way the difference between them will be negligible but 4.5ghz is probably a safer number - if not the easiest to obtain.

I'm running at x46, my Vcore mostly stays at 1.345. I might try lowering it and see what happens.

Literally had no temperature change compared to when I was playing at x42. The temps are pretty much the same. I'm quite impressed to be honest.

That's pretty good! I would suggest using the offset vCore and then drop that slowly depending how you get on.

I will give it ago and see what happens.

Did you have the same motherboard? I'm not sure what to do with additional turbo voltage setting, do I leave it set as +0.020 or decrease it?

EDIT: I've noticed when gaming my v.core actually stays around 1.275-1.300v? How weird. Its not when I actually stress my CPU that is goes to 1.345v

Earlier my game froze, I had no BSOD, just whole comp froze, not sure its just a one off thing.

It could be that the BSOD isn't configured to log to a file or even show you the screen. Check the config. I would suspect its either vCore related (code 124) or RAM related.
