OK Guys, current spec:

Case: Lain Li PC-7FW
PSU: Corsair HX750
Mobo: Asus Maximus II Formula
CPU: Q9550 (3.46GHz Under a Corsair H-50 closed loop)
RAM: 8GB Corsair PC8500 DDR2
GFX: 2x Sapphire 6970 in crossfire
Audio: Asus Xonar D2X
HDDs: 250GB Samsung 840 SSD, 500GB & 1TB Spinpoint F1s.

I don't need any peripherals.

Will be used for gaming at 2560x1440 and occasional 3D rendering.

I would like a Corsaid double-rad close loop cooler. Just find them neater and reliable but doubt my current case would accomodate that (H-50 is suspended with cable ties in the front bay of this case haha).

Not sure what gfx card, GTX1070 should be ample?

Are M.2 drives worth it? Will I lose any performance by using one?

I would like to do a little overclocking also, if it's worth it these days. Cant tell what speed ram is actually suitable.

Budget up to 1500 but closer 1000 preferable. I've had this system many many years and for me it's only just hit its limit. With AMD no longer supporting my cards, crossfire is no longer effective and I'm forced to upgrade. I would like spec towards another system that will last me with the odd GPU upgrade along the way.

Cheers :)

That board comes as a bundle which works out a bit cheaper.
A 3000MHz kit of Ram is fast enough.
The H110i is cheaper for a Corsair 280mm AIO.
An M.2 SSD won't make much difference. You can get a 500GB 850 EVO for less.

Thanks for that, much appreciated. I've gone and pulled the trigger in the shop with a couple extra bits :)

Can't wait to get building. Can't believe it's over 7 years since I built my current core system!
