Laminate is a PITA, in particular for kitchens where it may get wet. If you want your floor to last, look at Karndean with a decent underlay like Regupol.

We had laminate in the kitchen and it lasted about 4 years before I ripped it up and put tiles down (originally it was because of cost) and apart from 1 or 2 chips it was fine.

If you wipe up any spills fairly quickly (you can also use a PVA type glue that will make the joints more water resistant) then there shouldn't be any issues.

we have this..we got a dark wood style to go in a high gloss white kitchen, cant remember what its called though (might be dark beech of some type)

it looks brilliant, is hard wearing, resistant to scratching, warm underfoot and you neednt worry about it getting wet

its easy to clean as well
