Cars with emergency city braking

Is that with an empty load though? I wonder if Volvo's system somehow calculates the extra stopping distance needed for the extra load you're carrying.

I can actually imagine a lot of lorry drivers not liking this system for the exact scenario that you posted. You'll have a lot of drivers cutting lorries up because they know that the lorry will auto brake.

According to a post from Volvo on the youtube video its fully loaded to 40t so proper impressive on wet road as well.
 
I was all ready on the brakes and would have stopped but it was nice to have something to aid in case.

Just asking because from what you wrote the system obviously beat you to it, but I thought they only stepped in when a collision is likely.

Or maybe it put the brakes on earlier than you would have but not 100%, so if you were in control you'd have braked later but harder?
