Its a plus for Utd if he goes to Arsenal or City (ie we get cash for a player who isnt likely to play, and he takes up a place in their squad while being out injured)

City were always likely to get 3 points vs Sunderland anyway - highly unlikely the sale made any difference (ie if it wasnt McNair it would have been someone else)

Utd got upto £7m out of it so meh

(its more annoying when Costa keeps on getting away with red card/ 2nd yellow challanges imo)

edit - Rumours from Spain that Valencia are interested in Rojo for 12m euros - not sure what their budget is like given UEFA breathing down their neck FFP wise

IF they can afford it (maybe in conjunction with Mustafi sale for ~£25m?) and that includes them covering his wages it could be a reasonable deal for both sides , but unfortunately I think the wages situation will cause issues either way even if the rumour is based on fact.

I don't think that you necessarily have to find someone who will pay their current wages at a new club to offload someone. If they want to play then that is worth taking a pay cut for. If Rojo wants to keep playing for Argentina he needs first choice football. He also won't get a good contract from another team in a few years if he just lets his contact run down.

Who wants to buy a very average defender who hasn't played in 2 years. Certainly no team would pay him high wages.

Why do you think Utd are always stuck with dead wood for years? Its mainly because of the wage situation and players willing to pick up a generous paycheck while rarely playing.

(Im talking about 1st XI squad here, not youngsters trying to make a name and not getting games which is a different situation).

I think the board has been particularly generous in the last few years, both with players coming in as well as extentions (how the **** has Jones still got 4 years on his contract incl options for instance). Probably not helped by the fact Utd havent challanged for titles /cups for the majority of the last few years / constantly changing manager.
