ferguson thought the same about pogba and we all know how that went. besides, moyes made things difficult for zaha as he'd been up his daughter

No he didn't. There has never been any suggestion that Fergie didn't rate Pogba. Zaha has never looked that good. He had potential but never really lived up to it and has found his level currently.

reading the hard copy of the telegraph earlier. small bit on bentaleb being loaned out with a view to selling him for £17m! not sure if it was a misprint, a decimal point missing or my eyes are going.

I just listed players thats could be loaned or sold, I would not sell him.

What gets me with wenger is he buys youngsters with potential and throws them in the deep end.

Take Liverpool last week, was it not Holding and Chambers as CB pairing?

It would be great to give our youngsters play time but around quality and experienced players to help them improve.

You do realise that there is only a year between holding and chambers. Plus it depends on who plays better which side and also holding probably has more games under his belt. I thought he did ok against Leicester.

You would be a fool to get rid of iwobi as a loan or sold, he has bags of potential and has been more than impressive compared to our so called first team starters.

At Walcotts age you either sell him or stick by him, I think he could be very good if he stayed fit. I think he would get 20 goals if he stayed fit, but he can't last a season.

The fact he was playing the tea lady in midfield before he'd give Pogba a game said something ;)

I think the story with Pogba and Fergie was along the lines of Fergie didn't want to give him game time before he signed a new longer term contract. He probably figured if he gave Pogba a 5 year deal at lets say 20-25k a week for a youngster who hasn't played it would be dramatically easier than playing him for a year, everyone raving over his performances and having multiple clubs know he was at the end of his contract. At that point Utd either match wage offers of other clubs or he leaves for another club.

Basically it seemed like Pogba didn't want to sign while he wasn't being given a chance because he didn't want to get stuck with a manager who wouldn't let him play while Fergie was actually just trying to get him to commit to Utd so he could hurry up and play him without worrying about making him a key part of the team then him moving on. Also probably would have saved 20-60k a year in wages between a contract as a youngster with like 2 games and a guy who was crucial and played a full season proving himself.

Ultimately Pogba won, he knew he had interest elsewhere, Fergie was stupid and by not showing any trust in Pogba he made Pogba feel he had to go elsewhere to get a fair shot.

As with Sterling not simply accepting the first offer from Liverpool because he knew full well what he could really get, and then being angered by the pretty immediate attempts to pressure him into signing via having the media shame him for asking for what Liverpool really valued him at(they valued him at 50mil don't forget), Rodgers alienated Sterling and his agent like Fergie alienated Pogba and his agent and both players went and got the deal they felt they could achieve when being lowballed by their teams earlier on.

He is, but Iwobi is in a position SO many Arsenal young attackers have been in, they didn't cost 15mil they aren't on 60-100k a week, they aren't a priority and Wenger has his favourites or players he feels pressured/compelled to play. Iwobi looks very promising but has a serious risk of being overlooked, particularly with a new striker coming in, and ending up spending lets say 80% of a crucial couple of years on the bench. Wenger may well chose to play him, but so often Wenger loves a player for a short spell then they rot on the bench for 2 years before ending up leaving.

I can see it going either way with Iwobi, if he spent a year on loan, made 30+ starts and scored 10+ goals he would be in a stronger position with Wenger next season with Wenger more likely to play a more 'proven' player.

Personally I'd send Ox out on loan, sell Walcott(to a glue factory), and give Iwobi a genuine shot this year, sticking with him through bad spells as younger players are less consistent but they won't gain consistency without playing.

So Wenger finally confirms that both Mustafi and Perez are done deals. About time too, maybe not the world class signings everyone was expecting us to buy but at least it alleviates the CB injury crisis we have. Perez I'm not so sure about but hope he comes good with us.

Just hope Wenger doesn't do his usual of keeping them on the bench therefore not giving them time to adjust to the PL.

Zaza a done deal to West Ham. Not bad business at all for them.

€5m loan fee, just has to play a few games and it becomes a 5 year deal for another €20m + add ons. Big money this window for the 'smaller' clubs!

chatterings of chadli to wba circa £13m which is a shame. considering we paid £7m and he knows where the goal is and is a good physical presence. this would leave us light on the left so i expect zaha to be concluded on deadline day.
