Long story quit long.. last august at MOT time i was told my r/n/s tyre was under depth and persuaded to buy a Prestivio replacement . Apparently a budget tyre made by yokohama , oh must be good then i thought..

Yea crack on m8 get one of those on.. anyway since fitting its had a very slow puncture , probably needing topping up every 2 - 3 weeks , this hasnt really been a problem as i do basic checks weekly anyway.

So when MOT came again 3 weeks ago i thought id get him to check it. After MOT he apparently removed and reseated tyre and all seemed well until i had to do a couple of longer than normal journeys this thursday.
About 20 miles in i could feel some mild vibration which got quit bad by the time i got home. As i had previously had issues with the front brakes binding i stripped down and cleaned them all without success .
while checking the rears i noticed the NSR tyre which had been reseated 3 weeks earlier..

I know its FUBAR and have changed it for a spare but WTF has happened to it .. looks like its about to blow to bits.

Whats the usual life span of these tyres ? Do i have a chance of getting them replaced FOC as to my mind the garage has supplied dodgy rubber !

Or should i just put it down to experience and get it replaced with a named brand.. the other 3 are Falkens.

Wow that's just a bad tyre, nothing to do with Prestivo. Got a set of Prestivo's on mine and they do not have a "buckle" like that.

Seems odd that it was changed a year ago and you only noticed it after the MOT - reckon you might have hit a pot hole or something?

When I bought it my Leon Cupra 180 had Prestivo Sport's all round. Horrid things with no feel whatsoever. I know I came from a 306 gti-6 which is one of the best handling FWD cars going but this was awful. Swapped them within 6 months for a set of GY Eagle F1 Asy 2's and it was transformed.

After a year, I can honestly see them saying to jog on. I'd personally crack that off myself, inspect the wheel for any damages and then get a decent replacement sorted.

Its was changed at MOT 2015 and removed and reseated at MOT 2016 to see what was causing the slow puncture .
I dont recall hitting any pot holes but...

Perhaps by not getting the slow puncture repaired the sidewall was weakened?

That may well be a factor ..

I think a quality replacement sounds like the answer. ;)

you paid for a ********* tyre, get a decent set *shrug*

I had a blowout last week on "decent" tyres, but I hated them and was waiting to replace them.

Eagle F1 Assy utter ******* compared to Uniroyal RS3's

Mmmm the Uniroyal RS3 seem quit cheap at £84.80 fitted thats only £18 more than the square wheels above

I would wager that damage was caused by careless removal/refitting when the slow puncture was investigated. The warp looks like it may have been created by a bead breaker - particularly the "pinchy jaws" type ones!
