Hi all,

I having problem with this card.
Playing game at high resolution i.e 1920x1200. My machine is then rebooted.
Doing a 3D Mark Bench also crashes.

Using MSI afterburner shows nothing wrong with the temp, etc.
Tried latest driver and now using older one 368...

The mobo is Gigabyte P67A.
CPU i5 2500K Sandy bridge.
8GB DDR3 RAM.
Xclio 650W PSU
Windows 10.

Any idea whats going on? Could it be a faulty card, one of the unlucky few?
Cheers.

I have the same card and no issues so far.

I removed the drivers whilst the old card was installed and then installed the new one.

Is your CPU overclocked? I had the same problem with my palit and I had to reduce the overclock on my CPU.

My Zotac 1080 has restarted my PC a couple of times

I'm suspecting it could be the PSU. But I do not want to replace it until last resource...

Why have a decent spec and ruin it with a cheap and nasty PSU? You're just asking for trouble. You can get a decent EVGA G2 for £70-80 that would suit your needs.

Installed new Corsair PSU.
Run 3DMark tests..
No more computer restarts..

Happy day... But will see for gaming load.

Cheers.

Sounds like "job done".

Even if the new PSU hadn't (or hasn't) fixed the problem, it was a good idea to get rid of the old one.

It's been said many times before, the PSU is often ignored, as it doesn't seem to improve FPS or run apps faster. All it does is provide power so all the other goodies work properly. ;)

I`m waiting for an EVGA SuperNova P2 650w to arrive. It's replacing a CoolerMaster SilentPro 700w that is working perfectly well. The SilentPro is a decent PSU, but it's just over 5 years old. Cost about £15 per year, so I think I`ve had my money's worth.

Yes, am suprised my old PSU even with 650W. It can not cope with the load of the GTX 1070...Max 225W it said! haha

Like you says I had that PSU for about 5 years too..

It's quite likely that your old PSU was never capable of delivering it's stated power, although I would have expected it to be able to run a GTX1070 when it was new. It's also likely to have developed a fault, which is why it buckled under load.

Electrolytic capacitors are the most likely reason that PSU's fail. They deteriorate in use, especially if exposed to heat. Better PSUs use higher quality capacitors (and other components) which should lead to a longer life expectancy.
