Jsut been in accident, declare car SORN?

Hi all,

Just calming down after an accident, car is smashed to pieces and i cannot see in anyway they will repair.

Shall I delcare my car SORN so I get it in before month end and a bigger refund? am I allowed to?

Wouldnt a car with bits hanging off parked on road be a liability for insurers? I'm sure they'd want to stop covering it asap.

If it's not on the road then you might as well.

In fact it won't be allowed on the road if it's a wreck

Yes SORN it. The tax status of your car has nothing to do with your insurance.

Car is at the recovery depot, not on the road.
Everyone is OK thankfully. Wife is a little sore, have to see how she is in the morning.

I'll SORN it later then.
