What are people's thoughts on the burkini ban in France?

Why would a Muslim woman wear one of these to a beach especially if it is scorching? Or why a Muslim woman would walk around a city in the full Burka, face covered etc in 30+ heat?

Can someone on here who is a follower of Islam answer the above please?

Theyre surprisingly cool from what ive been told.

Here you go. Watch from 18:00 onwards.

Short version is that her belief is that is a sign of practicing your religion.

Whether she is right or wrong isn't up to you, me or anyone else to tell her in a free society like in the UK and France as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others.

There is nothing religious about it.

All I can see is that the one at the bottom cant be assumed to be Islamic but the top one can.

One promotes a religion and the other promotes water sports.

If you cannot see that then fair enough.

Promotes?

Practicing religion automatically equals promotion does it?

What about mosques and churches etc. Do they promote religion?

Printing companies that print religious texts. What do they do? Promote?

What about other religious clothing? Is that promotion?

Learning about different religions in school, what is that? That would surely be much more than just some clothing.

How can you say that when you said there was nothing religious about it??????? If it encourages your anti Islamic bigotry then its is your issue, not the issue of someone who wears it.

He doesn't have a coherent argument.

It will swing from one side to another to just counter your point.

It's usually why I don't engage in posts from Arazi.

Care to prove that? Does it infringe on your rights?

If you can, anyone can ban religion via the legal process.

Take a look at the Middle East or read the Quran. Have you not seen all the bombings and killings everywhere recently?

Or you could take a look at the IRA and the religious nonsense involved in that, you know for some slight balance.

It doesn't mean it infringes my rights, that doesn't mean i have to agree with it.

But i think if i visited Saudi Arabia my rights would be a lot different than in the UK, if anything i would have some different rights like beating a woman for example.

So yes, all religion is bad.

No one is forcing you to convert.

However, you cannot demonstrate that religion in the UK is inherently infringing on your rights.

Extreme religious interpretations could, but they aren't welcome in the UK. A burkini doesn't fall within that categorisation. Your wife, sister, daughter etc. isn't being forced to dress like that in the UK. Anyone that tries to force that would be breaking the law. Just as forcing people to take clothes off in a public place would be.

Listen, if a bunch of nuns turned up on a busy beach fully kitted out i wouldnt be to impressed about it, the beach amongst many is not a place for religion.

I said this pic has nothing religious about it.

But why should religion matter when it comes to what people can or cant wear on a beach. That fact that you are seeing two people even more covered up than someone in a birkini but you are not arguing that it is unacceptable enforces how bigoted you are about your views on Islamic people.

They are just wearing their normal clothes.

Secondly, why is it a problem to have people wearing religious clothes at the beach? Or is this a completely arbitrary distinction?

I do not care what the woman looks like who is wearing it or what she is wearing, all that concerns me is that she wears it because of a religious belief designed to oppress women.

If you agree with that belief, who's the bad one here?

I have a cross tattoo on my back... not religious, just thought it would be cool to get a tattoo 12 or so years ago when i turned 18 :P :P but now i feel i should never go topless at a beach :(
