What are people's thoughts on the burkini ban in France?

It is not about the item worn it is about the reason behind the item being worn, how hard is that to understand?

It is hard to understand because it is completely irrational.

What harm does it do anybody ?

When Nigella Lawson wore a Burkini on Bhondi beach did that offend you ?

You are wanting to force your beliefs and opinions on to others.

I am sorry but you are very close to the dictionary definition of those things you do not like being accused of.

I understand the ban, but if you are going to do it properly then also ban anything at all that covers scalp/neck. Get rid of all head gear whatsoever. Caps, fedoras, visors etc. Sunburn equality!

The woman wearing it?

If a woman visits the ME, she is expected to cover up, is that acceptable? Why are men not expected to cover themselves up just as a woman has to?

No religion should dictate what you wear or when.

If she wore it because she likes it or it helps against the sun or for whatever reason then cool, nothing at all wrong with it, wearing it because of religion is a different matter.

I couldn't care less what people wore at a beach, but religion should play no part in it.

If you think it should then we will never agree.

I wore a blazer to a funeral once, it was so hot outside, easily in the the mid 30s, but seems as its traditional dress for a christian funeral i felt obligated to keep it on. Im now thinking it should be banned as I wasnt wearing it to shield myself from the cold.

How the hell do YOU know why she is wearing it ?

And you want to ban it your absolutely at least as bad as anybody forcing a woman to wear a garment in the first place.

How can you not see that !

Look like slightly more frilly wetsuits to me, I couldn't care less what people wear to the beach. A law that dictates what we can and can't wear (outside of safety reasons) is draconian and not to be encouraged in my opinion.

Really, that is really the same thing?

Same old arguments from the usual types.

You cant be offended that someone says you have bigoted views when you are arguing against what people can or cant wear purely because of their religion.

Either you put forward something that shows your view is rational i.e opting to ban all people on the beach that are covering all of the person except the eyes nose and mouth based on "insert reason here" or you accept its rational for someone to see your view as bigoted.

And people can call me racist\bigot etc etc, i really do not care, i don't collapse at name calling in tears.

When i call it out i would like the mods to be consistent, upto now, they aren't.

Meh truth is if I just speak honestly i'm fed up with Islam.

Tired of the crapp caused in the name of it.

Ban it and be done with it. If christians were doing the same thing ban that too.

But right now Islam is clearly the worst and has a lot of backward ideas in it still which are very much alive today.

There was a good documentary following muslims who left islam and they all said similar things, oppresive, guilt tripped into following, family disowned them, shamed for leaving yada yada.... it's toxic.

Stop on. Can't really add anything else except that if the mayor wants to ban something then you have to follow the rules. I wonder what would happen if you a fit young woman was at the beach in saudi arabia? She's be sentenced to the whip.

:D :D :D

Still not sure you can make an anti islamic thread and then ask for back up from the mods when you get called out for being bigoted.

he just wants to see more sweaty cleavage on the beach

I've just read through this thread and the thing that has struck me most strongly is the extreme hostility shown against Arazi for not conforming and the total lack of restraint shown by people rushing to silence them.

There has been some reasonable opposition to his position, but false accusation and defamation of character has been very common. This example from richthomuk is less obviously extreme and aggressive than some, but its relative subtlety might make it more effective.

Perhaps the people who've posted against Arazi are secretly trying to support them by being so blatantly nasty and dishonest towards them. But probably not.

It's well known a surprisingly high percentage of muslims support extremest views.

Indeed, a few weeks ago in another thread i pointed out that 1% of 1.6 billion is a very large amount of people, I got shot down as usual.

If there is more than 1% then what's that saying, God help us :D
