iPhone 7 ** Rumours & Discussion **

I have absolutely no issues with the same design each year. Don't think it can get much better than what we have now. Just want a larger battery and better components. Not sure what people are expecting now a days.

So iPhone 7 will be announced next week, and released some time after that. Currently I'm on o2 refresh, which means I can pay off the device plan and upgrade. Currently the device plan is £350, and I can trade my 6s 64gb in for £370-390.

Question is, do I make this decision before the 7 is announced or wait? I'm not sure how the value of the phone will be affected post 7 annoucement.

Anyone considering similar move?

Depends how much you want to upgrade from what you currently have. My Three contract is now only sim-only, although it came to an end in April but the staff member I dealt with adjusted my allowance and has kept me eligible for upgrading/leaving any time. For me its all dependant on what the spec is and what deals are out there.

I will either get the 6s or change manufacturer with no 3.5mm jack. I use it every day. I can't get TomTom to play the damn voice through the usb connection in my car I have to use the aux lead.

I often have my phone charging through lightening while using headphones. How would that work now? Seems completely pointless to me and will bite them in the backside, like ditching the smaller phones did and they had to back track with the SE. It will cause me more inconvenience than convenience, travelling on an aircraft with a charged up headset or spare batteries. Creating an issue that wasn't there. I will be ****ed when they remove it from the ipad too.

Strange that...maybe they will split it somehow? Or Bluetooth only? Maybe a seperate headset to accommodate it. This is why I'm just looking for a 6s plus.

And how are you supposed to train and listen to blue tooth headsets? Do they even do Bluetooth ear buds. I'm not going for a run in beats.

Wait you seriously haven't seen bluetooth earphones?

Ones that fit inside the ears, ear buds. No I haven't. I don't want to go running with a set of beats type headphones. Again it creates an issue that wasn't there before. More battery drain and having to carry spare batteries or something else to fully charge every day.

So apple will have had the same design for three phones running? Wow, that smacks of laziness to the extreme.

And they wonder why their sales are dropping? They need to wake up.

I find Apple products boring these days. Haven't been tempted to buy an iPhone since my hugely disappointing iphone 5.

Been very happy with my s6 for the last 18 months. Can't see me changing it any time soon unless someone releases something really eye catching.

Doesn't look like that's going to be the iPhone 7....

They'll add very little to the design and then make out they have reinvented the iPhone, just like they do at every iPhone event :p

I remember how much I loved my iPhone 3g and iPhone 4, great phones.

For me, apple have been resting on their laurels ever since.

I keep an eye on what they are doing though, in case they ever decide to do something exciting again.

You need to get out more often!

A quick search for bluetooth earbuds will find you thousands of options, many of which are sweat resistant, most of them are aimed at the sports market and trust me that little hassle of charging is nothing compared to not getting yourself tied up in a cord in the gym, I love it.

I'm no fanboy, I switch backwards and forwards between Android and iOS quite often but seriously what are people expecting? You want them to make it round? Maybe put horns on it?

It's a slab of glass.. and think of my analogy about the average PC.. you don't assume that because a laptop hasn't grown wings there's been no development, we accept its all internal? Sales are dropping because market share being what it is there's only so far you can go plus the whole smartphone market is slowing due to pretty much everything being more than good enough for most people.

A lot of negativity in this thread, it's a shame.. you don't always need to be sneery or angry about something.

I wasn't meaning anyone specifically.

But think about it.. in this lack of creativity space they've been doubling or whatever CPU and GPU performance, it appears they have found space for a 20% bigger battery in the 7, they made 3D touch which fair enough hasn't set the world on fire but it exists, cameras have gotten exponentially better etc etc.. the difference in unlocking speed on my 6S to my 6 shows the masive upgrade on the touch ID stuff..

It just looks the same.. they have a design language and they're sticking to it, that doesn't have anything to do with creativity or development, it just means the box on the outside looks the same.

All sorts of industries are pushing against the failing moores law and the fact we've gotten good enough at a lot of tech.. like TVs, laptops, phones etc they're all starting to push questionable technology to maintain upgrade cycles..

truth is we might as well stick with what we've got longer, honestly they should probably stop releasing new handsets every year but I for one don't want them to stop doing that!

I mean seriously.. what would you like them to do?

I'll admit as a die hard lover of this stuff who's worked in it for 20 years I am also a bit sad we seem to be slowing up but it was totally inevitable, look even at what we had 2 or 3 years ago to now.. you can't maintain that pace it was obvious.. just like it was totally obvious that Apple's exploding sales would have to stop eventually.

FWIW, I've been using Beats Powerbeats 2 for about 2.5 years now. Used and abused at the gym and commuting, still going strong and battery still a solid 6/7 hours.

Strongly recommend them :).

I know what you're saying, but there is plenty they could do to make a more exciting product.

I don't really care about faster processors and GPUs to be honest, what we have already is plenty fast enough for a phone.

How about a phone with the entire front being screen with no bezels or physical home button?

I want something new in design not the same phone with sightly better performance that is barely noticeable anyway.

Who cares if it plays angry birds at 200fps rather than 150fps?

There's a lot they could do with the form factor, fact is the Plus is HUGE compared to competitors and the screen is significantly lower quality. The S7 Edge is so much nicer to hold and handle, but has the same size screen with much better resolution and dat OLED.

I do think that the 10th anniversary will yield a nice step forward, just a shame they've made this years another stop gap in comparison. Unless the Plus Dual Camera is a game changer, which it could well be (personally I hope it's wide angle rather than optical zoom but we'll see!).

Also got these. Great headphones for running / gym.

To be honest, who even cares that much about the camera? The camera on my s6 is good enough for a mobile phone camera for me. If I wanted amazing quality pictures I'd be using a dedicated digital camera with optical zoom anyway.

I can't believe apple are still using low resolution LCD screens on a supposedly premium product too. I'll stick with 1440p oled thanks apple.
