Best network at the moment?

Looks like I'll be getting a new Silver S7 in the next few weeks but having been on Virgin Mobile (Orange then EE) I've had a few situations recently where I've only had 'E' internet (Edge?) on my S4 or at times nothing at all. Is any other network better these days? I'd rather not go with BT Mobile (not a BT fan at all) so that leaves Three or Vodafone? Any impressions if them recently? Or are EE still my best option?

For me Vodafone coverage is excellent. When I'm at my place in the Highlands its the only provider that covers my area, this may not affect you though :D

The online chat service is terrible, never use it. Always call to do any dealings with them. Last time I used the chat to activate my 4G iPad, they cut off my other mobile completely. The time before that they managed to put me on the wrong tarriff. Lesson learned.

I've had zero problems with Three. Good coverage and the internet is always good, even at the worst of signals. Any issues and those in their shop or on their online chat service gets it sorted no bother.

I was with O2 for over a decade but got sick of poor coverage and dropping of service in the area I live in. Now with Vodafone, which is great (being less than 10 miles from HQ might help) but their CS is beyond useless if anything goes wrong.

I'm on my way out of Vodafone. I've found their service really poor.
I can be in the middle of nowhere with a 4G and then in the middle of a town/city and get nothing.
I seem to take ages moving from say an E signal to H - I'm sat there with my work mobile (EE) on H and swearing at my phone on Vodafone as it sits there on an E.

I've been trialling SIM's for the past few months, getting a PAYG and chucking £10 on it to see how I get on.
Three was fine, but the WiFi calling was via an app. EE SIM has also been great and I'm favouring them at the moment. Thinking of waiting for the next Google phones now (previous generation supported WiFi calling natively on EE).

But personally, cannot wait to move on from Vodafone.

Stoofa, just for info, sim free unbranded Samsung s7 (edge) supports EE wifi calling now too. Doesn't need to have EE firmware on it

Thanks for that info. I like to buy SIM-free and "network free" where possible, so was looking at handsets that would support WiFi calling on EE without it needing to run EE firmware.

Vodafone were terrible when i was with them, poor coverage, poor customer service along with high prices for the pleasure of having their terrible service.

I changed to 3 about a year ago, they have been much better, the signal is far more solid with far better customer service if you need it.

EE is probably the best but their prices are quite a lot higher.

Your phone will generally use the strongest reliable signal. Just force your phone to use LTE/HSDPA instead of GSM, and it should have a 4G/H everywhere (even if it might be a bit weak). Should be in your phone > Network settings, if not, dial */*/4636*/*/

So Vodafone is out. Interested in three as they're cheaper by a clear £4 a month. That's £96 over the contract.

Also carphonewarehouse's website is awful. Can't see anything as it just sits refreshing and doesn't show me anything! Shame they're the only place that sell the silver. :(

I plan to move to EE when my Three contract is up. BUT Vodaphone may win me over as EE dont offer ANYTHING when you go outside the UK

So phoned CW as their website is garbage and O2 is £33 a month with £40 up front but Vodafone is £29 a month with a £35 upfront payment. Hmm. Decisions decisions.

If you have poor signal with Virgin (who uses EE) then BT is also out as they use EE's network as well.

Could get a PAYG SIM from O2, 3 and Vodafone and see what the signal is like in your area, coverage varies in different locations.

Well I am on Three and have been for years. Have travelled around and was in France this weekend happily using my allowance call minutes and unlimited data without issues. Was getting up to 8Mbit down, although the upload speed was 1Mbit, which is fair enough I suppose.

When other networks offer free roaming data and allowance usage I'll probably consider checking out the competition, but until then, Three can't be beaten for bang for buck.
