iPhone 7 ** Rumours & Discussion **

Bluetooth still is a pain to switch between devices.

Switching a BT headset between iphone, ipad, work phone, home laptop and work laptop is not very nice or convenient. Not to mention that battery life on these devices is lacking.

But well, it is not like I have much choice if Apple decides this for me. Android is not a choice if one cares about longevity of software support.

With the removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack will we be able to charge the phone and use the 3.5 mm jack? Will the lightning to 3.5 mm jack adaptor also have a pass through for a lightning cable?

Wouldn't normally look at the plus model due to size but if it has a much better camera and an extra gig of RAM then I'm probably going for that one, 32GB is the sweetspot for me, only went for the 64GB iPhone 6 because 16GB was too small.

No is the simple answer to that.

Nope so sitting at my desk where I have the phone plugged in to keep it charged, while listening to music etc all day I will have to keep switching connectors through the day or get a blue tooth set and then worry about keeping them charged instead. Way to go creating an issue where there wasn't one :(

You'd have to assume so - losing the ability to listen to music whilst charging would be pretty massive. Apple will likely have a solution surely.

Yeah but people who don't use the 3.5mm jack port don't think it's an issue.. :p

Why have a universal standard that's cheap and supplies power to the headphones when you can get people to pay extra for bluetooth headphones that need charged every few hours?

Of course there will be adaptors about that split the lightning connector into a 3.5mm with a lightning passthrough but you won't get one in the box.

It will be £25 from apple or a few £ from somewhere else. It won't come in the box because its not elegant and most people won't need it. Its also a direct admission of an obvious issue with what they are doing straight off the bat.

What will be interesting is how the third-party manufacturers deal with connectivity in the long term. I fully expect the Android manufacturers to follow suit and ditch the jack, once they've allowed Apple to pioneer it and suffer the "PR pain". Once that happens, will the headphone manufacturers start producing two variants, one with a lightning connector and one with USB? Or will they stick with an analogue jack and supply an adapter, or expect the phone manufacturer to? A lot will depend on the precedent set by Apple with this release.

As for waterproofing, I'd imagine there are rafts of women who will upgrade for that alone just so they can drop their phones down the toilet with impunity :D

It's true, women on facebook while seating on the toilet seat? But how did they drop it down it though?

I have a 128gb 6s+ will get the same 7+. Will sell my 6s+ privately.

How much is fair for it? I have a buyer lined up. sim free from Apple, 1 year old, no visible marks I can see, AppleCare+ to Sep 2017 (not claimed on it) boxed with unused accessories.

I swear half the women at work have done it at least once :D

From what I gather, it's due to their penchant for keeping their phone in a back pocket - when they pull their jeans/trousers down, it pops out and down it goes :)

Anyone else not bothering with this one and waiting for the rumoured OLED version coming next year?
