Job for the girls

I worked at the NHS in HR for a brief while, that kind of thing isn't uncommon unfortunately.

My money would be that she knows a thing or two about the people who are setting these jobs up for her.

£240k? what band is that? 32D?

Board members and chief exect pay doesn't fall under the typical Agenda for Change structure.

Although this is several years old, it will give you a better idea: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/211964/Pay_Framework.pdf

Except in special health authorities (SpHAs), the spot rate salary for an individual chief executive is determined using an organisational weighting factor.

Appendix A of that document talk specifics and gives more information about the weighting factor. Eg. the starting wage for London and other SHA clusters is £206,088

She wants to go to jail along with the people that put her in the (new) position.

I've never understood the civil service mentality of ' this person has made a shocking error.. let's make them leave with a high payout and insane pension'. Or in this case, keep them on at the same money?

It's farcical.

In any other sector Percy would have been hauled into a court room by now. Not given a side step out of a sticky situation.

I wonder how much of an influence the rumour that HSE are investigating the Southern Health Trust had on her (finally)stepping to the side....

It's not a public sector thing, it's a senior executive thing. You're average public sector pleb like me would be disciplined & fired just the same my private sector equivalent if I did something very wrong. Whereas we've seen it over & over poor performing private sector company directors get huge bonuses while rank & file staff suffer.

Someone with complete incompetence in a high powered and extremely responsible position. Can't say I'm surprised.

Was about to say the same. Sadly the nhs is riddled. I was looking at positions within it recently and it was so obvious from many of the job descriptions that they were for a specific individual.

Really?? The amount of money spent on this incompetent individual could easily be redistributed to the junior doctors, securing them a better pay packet!!

I don't disagree, but the government cannot micro manage the NHS Trusts by deciding who they can and cannot hire. That is something very different to the 7 day NHS policy.

I would hope Hunt does apply some scrutiny and pressure on the issue, but to link this to the junior doctor issue is daft.

They can't micromanage but they can ensure they're managed by competent and none corrupt people. Clearly this isn't the case!

yeah, this is where all our NHS contributions are going.
It's long been an argument of mine that it's not how much we put into the NHS, but where we put it. We had one department where I used to work that had twice as many managers as actual staff. Based on the new Generic Role Profiling they did, you could fire one manager and hire 2½ new staff members for the same money.

There's something about "southern" as a prefix that makes you know you don't want to be dealing with a company...
"Southern Health"
"Southern Railways"
"Southern Electric"
"Southern.... fried chicken?"
Southern Water ;)

"Southern Comfort" , argument fail
Is bettered by Jack Daniels, both of which are bettered by any Scotch.
It's also not a company but a product, whereas the company is Sazerac.
Not to pick holes, or anything! :p
