Hi all,

As above. No intention of keeping it or even opening it... Would it be profitable to buy one and sell it on when they're released for people desperate for one?

Or are stock shortages not really a thing anymore?

Thanks!

You might make some money but you might lose some as well. Its a gamble as we have no idea how much people are willing to pay. Depends what models end up being in demand as well.

Where would you sell it as well. Ebays fees will chop off a large portion of any profit you might make.

No it isn't worth it - I did it once about three years ago - Ended up making a tiny amount that didn't justify the effort :p

i am happy with the 6 - if i upgraded to the 7 i would sell it to make some cash and keep the 6.

You would just be paying it all back to the phone company over the 2 year contract so not making much if anything.

Always have friends telling me they are getting an upgrade and selling it to cash in when they could just go sim only and save £30 a month :/

They will be everywhere from day one, I even managed to walk into Apple Store on day 1 at lunch to buy the first Gen iPad and that was huge.

I bought an iPhone 4 too on day 1 with no pre-order.

I don't see the scum aspect either.
But no way would I risk selling such a high value item on eBay.
Not worth the hassle unless you could buy hundreds really.
And you don't know the asking price

Perhaps scum is too strong a word, but it's no different than the scalpers that buy 10 and sell them for over the odds because demand is high. It robs genuine buyers the chance to get their hands on a product because someone wanted to make all the monies.

If you can afford to buy a handset on the chance that stock will be limited then go for it, but be prepared to make a loss if the supplies are plentiful.

Yeah bit risky

Plus I think the main thing that rules it out, that I initially overlooked, would be paypal and eBay fees
