How do you fit gym in to your day?

Are my time management skills just very poor?

Yes!!! your a student. :D

I do on average a 45 hour week, and can easily fit in 1hr cardio before work and train 5-6 times a week after work.

MAN UP, and get up earlier ;)

Sacrificing sleep to go to the gym? :/

No need to sacrifice sleep, you go to bed earlier. In the height of summer when it is extremely hot here (Virginia), i get out of bed at 5:30 and get out running by 6am. I still maintain 8 hours sleep.

What I do sacrifice is wasting time watching junk on TV.

I work nights so I have plenty of time during most days. I usually manage 4-5 days a week. After a night shift I am usually too knackered though, so I do often miss a day..

I'm in my final year of a degree as well.

My routine is, Mon, Wed + Fri - walk kids to school then walk to gym, do an hour, walk home, shower, do assignments. I'm only at uni 9am - 16:30 on a Tuesday and 16:30 - 21:00 on a Wednesday.

Occasionally I'll do a session at the gym on a Saturday as well.

I study full time and work party time most uni have a gym. I actually workout at home if you want it bad enough get out of bed 1 and half hours early get it done at start of day simple.

Cycle to work, cycle home at lunch, first 1/3rd of gym routine, wolf down some food, cycle back to work, cycle back home, finish gym routine, shopping if required, cooking, pass out..or go out.

Helps that I work 4 miles from where I live :)

I don't know how to fit gym in anymore tbh - just about squeeze in the a bit of 'bodycoach' HIIT at home and that's all I can muster :o

When time is limited I go to the gym twice a week

Day 1 Squat and bench + assistance
Day 2 Deadlift and press + assistance

I tend to gain just as fast when training like this compared to when I train 4 days a week. I can always find 2 hours a week to train. I do some mobility work at home during the week.

I leave for work at 6:30am and get home at 6:45pm, then go to bed around 10. My method is to get cardio from cycling to and from work. I then do weights at home from 8-9pm.

If you aren't lucky enough to have room for a full setup you can still get some dumbells and resistance bands for exercise in even the smallest home. It is then just a case of fitting it in. If you watch TV for an hour, do some exercises while you are watching the TV. Have the dumbells by your bed and when you get up in the morning do some quick exercises while you get ready. It isn't ideal, but just working exercises into a busy routine that way can be very effective.

where do I fit the gym in?

I don't, over the last 4 years I've put on pretty much all the weight I lost before getting married. Can't wait till the studying is over and done with and I can get back to running. I'd love to get back to 10.5st. I'd settle for around 12!

Work till 530
Cycle home - 11 miles

Chill till 10
Drive to gym at 10
Back home at 1130
Shower/eat
Bed at 0000.

I don't. It can be tough at times, but it's just about manageable.

I used to go 5 times a week, and worked out for strength. Oh how things have changed.

My work which I just finished was 2 miles from home which I was walking each day, my new job is 9 miles away, I'd love to cycle but there are no showers at the other end and I sweat quite freely. I'd stink!

The obvious questions are what's the time breakdown from 6am through to 8am? Unless it's quite a lot of time with your child, it doesn't sound like you're using that time particularly well. Eg. if it's half an hour with your child, 1h 30m to ****/shower/shave/eat/iron a shirt is quite leisurely. Then what do you do from 10pm through to 6am? No idea how much of that is sleep. I'm sure you could carve out an hour a few times a week. Or how do you get to work?

Difficult to say, there's no doubt parts of my day are time inefficient but I have almost 0 down time in the week so yeah, between 6 and 8 I am a bit leisurely, I catch up with emails and the news whilst I'm on the loo so that takes a bit longer and we only have a bath at the minute which takes longer than a shower. I sleep for 8 hours, 10-6, my mind spends all day on the go, I need that time to give it a rest. Once my current qualification at the end of the year is complete I'll have 10-15 hours of my life back. That'll be great!

I was going for a run 9-10pm a couple of months back but studies have just taken over.
