My fresh install of Win 10 had a very long update yesterday and it took a lot of SSD space. When I checked my C drive, I noticed a windows.old folder which was not there before the update. I thought windows.old will only appear when upgrading from an older version of windows? Do you also have this folder on your fresh install of Windows 10?

Each large Windows 10 update is essentially a new Windows install. You should create new media before reinstalling Windows 10.

If you use Disk Cleanup within Windows, it will remove it.

This is normal behavior.
