PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

not feeling much love for this from the thread, some like it and have it on order, or are considering it, the rest are like - meh. Has Sony dropped the ball here?

If I disconnected myself from the internet, I'd happily carry on with the PS4 but when I read about the Pro after launch on here and on gaming websites, I know I'll want one. It just depends on how the games are presented going forward and especially regarding 1080p. I have no interest in 4K or HDR until 2020 when my TV guarantee runs out.

For me personally from that show, yeah they have.

But I'm going to have to wait till I see what devs do with the thing first before I make a firm decision either way.

The lack of uhd drive has thrown me, it messes with my plans for next year. I didn't think in a million years they would release a console without one. Seeing as MS added one to their slim model.

I was going to get it this Christmas and invest in a 4k TV next year when new models release. Nice little tidy package as normal...

but now it's tempted me to get a Xbox one S at Christmas along with new forza horizon game to go with my 4k TV next year for movies and wait to see what devs do with pro.

Anyone that believes you will be playing games in 4k with this PS4 Pro is living in a dream world.

Coming from someone that has a PC with a GTX970 and a decent processor. I wouldn't even try 4k gaming. 1080 60fps with a whole bunch of the bells and whistles? Yes!

Not sure this PS4 Pro will even be capable of that.

I agree, just can't see it running 4k smoothly. Especially when it's priced at £349, a 1070 costs more than that and it's borderline 4k capable.

Madre mia. I wish people who come in here would at least read a few pages before splattering their inaccurate comments about.

We already know it's not NATIVE 4K! It's a combination of checkerboard upscaling with temporal and spatial anti-aliasing build in to the Polaris GPU itself with some features from the next-gen of AMD technology.

Also noticed that it has a bump to wireless AC - which is a great thing for me. I've pre ordered one as after selling my current ps4, its not a particularly large top up to get this.

True if they took time to read the digital foundry article it would also help.

That's what I'm thinking of doing. Not to be nosy, but how much did you sell it for? I'm not sure what to price mine at.

Just traded in my PS4 (White 500GB) for 150 on the high street, but that was using it as credit for a deposit on the PS4 Pro. If that helps xnusense.

Was surprised that Sony have went for 4K gaming and omitting 4K blue-ray. But hey, great news for me as a VR developer! :)

Anyone seen anything from third party devs saying they are going to patch their old games yet? It all seems very quiet on that front.

Is that in CEX?

I think it's down to both keeping the cost down, and timeline. They absolutely had to get Neo out for this Christmas, at a 'big seller' price point. It's possible they just couldn't get the parts in volume in time.

Baring in mind who Sony are, if they wanted to get the parts they would be able to.

I agree about keeping the costs down, but I dont see why (if its planned) why they dont say on the reveal - even if it will only be available after the new year - that there will be an external drive add on (even though they really should be able to do it sooner).

They have been a significant contributor to the spec of the UHD itself, they are releasing discs on the format, yet they still dont have a drive /deck to buy
