I must be getting old. I've just picked myself up the Asus 1070 laptop. I thought it was a 120hz display as suggested by the Asus website but my display properties are only showing 75. Then it says it's a Fhd led g sync. What does all this terminology mean? I was expecting a 120 display so am more than a little surprised.

FHD = Full HD also known as 1080p
LED = Light emitting diode, the method in which your screen is backlit
g-Sync = an Nvidia technology that smooths out stuttering / tearing in games by syncing the monitor refresh rate to the frame rates the gpu is pushing out.

regarding the 120hz screen - did you choose that type of screen when ordering the laptop, most manufacturers will show the screen options available BUT they are just that, optional...check your receipt to see what it is listed as

Cheers.

According to Asus there are three screen options. Overclockers UK have one. The option they have should be the 120hz screen, but it is only showing 75hz in the Nvidia control panel, hence the confusion.

I cannot see any reference to 120hz monitor in the link which makes me think that this version from OCUK isnt the 120hz option.

What made you think this was the 120hz option?, maybe i missed something in the product description

17.3" (16:9) LED backlit UHD (3840x2160) Anti-Glare Panel with 100% Adobe with G-Sync
17.3" (16:9) LED backlit FHD (1920x1080) 120Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 72% NTSC with G-Sync
17.3" (16:9) LED backlit FHD (1920x1080) Anti-Glare Panel with 45% NTSC with G-Sync

That's from the Asus site spec sheet.

Ocuk list the 2nd option which is 120Hz.

They seem to be making lots of errors on the store recently, almost every laptop that should be "HQ" is listed as "HK" i'd like to know what CPU has an HK at the end of it -_-

Hi terley,

The higher end CPU, 6820 is in fact HK, not HQ....

The "HK" version (6820HK) has the ability to be overclocked, "HQ" (6700HQ) doesn't....

Hope that clarifies those specs aren't errors.

Indeed, and even with the laptops being boxed, it's not that difficult to read the label off the side of them! It's infuriating to be honest. This is my third laptop off them, 1 was DOA, 1 overheated and this one isn't as described. :(

Hence my post on the Aorus owners page about being paranoid about stores not showing the correct info.

On the top spec aorus model the store was showing images of a different laptop!!

Many of the 6700hq's are listed as 6700hk's (i know the 6820hk exists :P)

Hi terley,

OK see what you mean.

We checked through our products (Gigabyte and AORUS) and everything seemed to be correct - but yes you are right that is an error on the screenshot you posted.
