American Bomb Scares Etc

Ah, so you weren't speaking at *me* then but people in general. Fair enough, simple miscommunication. It's a tough one really, where do you draw the line? And what's to stop these guys committing worse and worse atrocities to get the attention they crave? I dunno. I wish I had all the answers but the sad fact is nobody does. Every action had a reaction and this has gone on for too long to simply be stopped.

This is why you need open carry every where. No way does some guy go round stabbing everyone if everyone is open carrying assault rifles.

Its not an assault rifle, an assault rifle is a very specific term meaning select fire, most american "assault rifles" are semi automatic only and therefore not assault rifles. [/NRA]

Tbf that whole issue is a tricky one, with some states havung every other man and his dog armed, and stuff like this going on, i'd want to be armed too. At least here the gun related incidents are so few and far between its not a danger you feel the need to protect against.

The following is meant as no disrespect to anyone involved in or affected by recent and past atrocities, but what I've always wondered is why is it always bombs?

Given the difficulty of making a bomb, the risk of alerting the authorities during the acquisition of its parts, and sometimes (in this particular case) the low causalities caused it just seems like a weird choice.

I wouldn't even know where to start when it comes to making a bomb. But for example chucking a load of washing up liquid from a bridge onto the M25 during rush hour I could do tomorrow and I'm pretty sure it would cause more than 29 casualties plus a whole heep of chaos. And good luck tracing who in the world bought loads of washing up liquid.

And like why are airports always targeted. They're one of the most secure, watched and security-staffed places I can think of yet by no means the most crowded.

I guess we should be pleased that they all seem to be so stupid.

Why if they have to do any damage at all don't they just cause mayhem, they could cause all kinds of mischief, cost governments and businesses immense amounts of money and tie up resources by sabotage and not physically hurt anyone.

because that would hint that its a civilised form of warfare.

sadly it was something the viet cong learned in the vietnam war that psychological warfare and setting traps to injure rather than kill is much more effective.

shooting to kill not to maim, and trying as hard as possible to be sure the target is the bad guy before blowing up his car and doing what we can to minimise collateral is what seperates the good guys from the bad guys.

These days though assault rifle is pretty much accepted use for any magazine fed, long barrel rifle firing calibres above pistol and below heavy sniper/machinegun especially if it has a history of or variant with full selective fire - with the exception being if its classified for a specific task as something else.

I'm not an expert, but washing up liquid is likely to be ineffective when travelling something between 0 and 2 MPH* :p

*Certainly clockwise between J10 and J14 anyway!

His family have had battles with local authorities in Elizabeth over a restaurant that they own, according to CNN they sued and won one case, sketchy details though.

Maybe there are reasons in the above that this guy used when deciding to go down this route? If the above has any truth in it.

Tin foil hat time, the Bomb that went off was placed in the same location of the start of the DLC for The Division

Best check his room for PS4/XboxOne/PC

Picture of the suspect after he's been apprehended. He's a fatty!

One day you're making pressure-cooker bombs planning what you're going to do with your 70 virgins, the next day your on your backside on a wet, litter-strewn side walk outside a NY scrapyard, staring down the barrel of life without the possibility of parole in a Federal Super-Max facility.
