Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th September 2016]

Klopp being the special guest has saved Monday Night Football. I know they have to give the likes of Burnley a certain amount of live games but surely they can pick the matches vs one of the bigger sides to make it remotely interesting. How many neutrals are looking forward to Burnley - Watford? :o

Watford can be fun to watch! :p

If Southampton could finish they could be 10 up now. West Ham really are a mess.

If Southampton could finish we'd have been in the champions league places for 3 years on the bounce, we must have one of the worst 'play well, have 42 golden chances, lose 1-0 in the 85th minute' stats in the league :p

I actually am, Watford been enjoyable this year.

Luiz positionally is hilarious, he just runs out of the line to make #yolo tackles all the time. What a strange and awful transfer he was.

The only defenders at 'big clubs I've seen with worse positional sense in recent years are fullbacks/wingbacks (Andre Santos, Moreno, Glen Johnson) which is usually marginally more acceptable.

Despite being an Arsenal fan I used to be a season ticket holder over at Upton Park for 2-3 years as it was just around the corner.

I may be looking at this through rose-tinted goggles, but the atmosphere was fantastic, even when it only used to hold about 26,000 people once you got those fans riled up you were in for a torrid time. It completely blows away the sort of support you get at Arsenal, both at Highbury and at the Emirates. I've not been to the "London Stadium" yet, but from friends who go its just not the same.

At Upton Park the real die hard fans would sit in the Bobby Moore Lower, and that is where most of the noise would be generated. Now that sake hardcore support is segregated throughout the stadium, which also doesn't help.

After the suspect stadium deal they got, Im happy WHU arent doing well currently (although without doubt they will get out of the rut they are in).

I like the team, I like Bilic, but its a bit fo cummupance for the board etc.

Moving to a new stadium is usually difficult, recall Southampton (who also had a classic more compact stadium at The Dell before moving to St Mary's) struggled somewhat in that first season, seem to recall Arsenal struggling after moving to The Emirates also (although Wiki says otherwise, so my memory might be failing me)

Will we see more teams employing zonal marking now that referees have finally started clamping down on the wrestling that takes place at every corner with man to man marking?

The point is just that, arguably, there was a disfunctional midfield with Rooney stuck in there instead of good midfielders/people with pace/etc, then Ibra and him together = not enough pace... so taking one of them out helps with those issues.

It's a shame we don't play at home against a hapless leicester fielding theor reserve keeper every week i guess.

But of course changing out our left back and putting blind on cirners did well for us. 3 set piece goals is kinda embarrassing for any defence.

Also starting rashfird for the first time in the EPL whilst dropping fellaini was crucial too.

Not sure about the system changes following but I think the rule changes are brilliant, along with the dissent bookings I find watching a match a lot more palatable now without the constant stoppage for WWE in the penalty box and also not seeing regular tirades directed at refs.

Watford stinking this match up, which is typical as I have Deeney and Capoue in my FF team :p

And there we have it. Easy win, still not happy.

Yes a little.. Too easy wouldn't you say?

We already beat them once this year one the charity shield, had it not been for fellainis dazzling assist it vardy we would have cantered to that one too.

We played well/Leicester capitulated, they have been in bad form this year league wise and missing their keeper plus 3 set piece goals did the, no favours.
