I just watched the Pilot episode. Not overly impressed.

Dodgy hacking as usual, feels like another Scorpion. Characters protected by plot armor, ridiculously contrived reasons for Macgyver to cobble something together to save the day and apparently he can run as fast as plane at take off speeds.

MacGyver reboot? Really? That's just so sad!

The original was good viewing at the time (and I am old enough to remember), but it hadn't aged that well when last viewed an episode.

Personally I don't watch anything from the USA until they've started filming the second season. They've cancelled so many decent shows after the first season it isn't worth getting involved too early.

This one has literally zero chance of survival. Even by CBS standards, this show is 10 years ago. Cheesy, implausible, tiresome, with target audience set strictly between 12-14 years old.

Watched first episode completely agree with OP felt very improbable and contrived, might have worked 10 years ago yeah but feels done to death (and done better) these days - really lacked that something to separate it from stuff like scorpion.

Scary thing is, this is the second reboot, just that nobody really saw the first as it didnt get past the pilot (but a quick youtube will find it)

Whenever I think of MacGyver, I think of that episode of SG1 where O'Neil (RDA) and Carter (AT) are stuck in the ice cavern on an 'alien world' and Carter asks O'Neil to 'MacGyver' a Naquadah Generator :D

for some reason that always tickled me :)

^^ Think some of the best episodes of Stargate were where either Carter and O'Neil or Carter and Rodney were stuck in situations like that.

Wont be the same without RDA :(
I was in tears when the generic female hacker hottie ripped open a hard disk revealing the platters, so that they could obtain data from it. The show will bomb harder than Under The Dome tbh.

It tickled RDA too, Amanda Tapping changed the word from Macguffin and they kept it in on the subsequent take. It was on a behind the scenes thing which was good fun in itself.

Would still do a better job then this terrible remake

Did anyone even bother to watch the 2nd episode ?

Only good thing about it was amy acker.

Looks like the reboot is getting a bashing with negative reviews on the net, people saying tills performance is that of a wooden man and he plays Mac with a wooden effect.

I think this will get killed very quick.

MacGyver the Pensioner was a proper send off here:
