Cool, but kind of a pointless waste of masses of diesel! :p

Maybe I'm just a spoilsport. :(

What's the worst that could happen?

I was watching "Chris Harris Drives" (i.e. Chris Harris On Cars for Top Gear) on the Top Gear website yesterday. He was racing at the rather splendid Goodwood Revival event, in a race for closed cockpit GT cars from the early-mid 1960s.

One thing that struck me was the money involved. He was driving a lightweight racing E-type valued at around a million pounds...and it wasn't the most expensive car on the track. There was tens of millions of pounds worth of cars in the race. It wasn't a processional display - it was proper racing. I liked that. Yes, they are beautiful things deserving of a place in an art gallery. Yes, they are of historical importance and deserving of a place in a museum. But they're also cars intended for racing and it's fitting that they're being used for the purpose they were made for.

Great, isn't it?

I know of one particular pre-war car that has been bought for a rumoured £11m, and that will also be raced!

I think it is amazing that a 8 year old Mitsubishi still comes out tops when it comes to driving dynamics and speed. Here is to hoping the XI comes out sooner rather than later :)

Now imagine if the EVO X they had was a UK FQ-360 with the better seats and same power level as the RS.

Makes me glad I owned an EVO X FQ-360, a truly remarkable car and I fully agree with their statement on how it has to be driven like a GTR, when you do that they have incredible pace and the chassis just takes bumps, pot holes, adverse cambers in its stride.

For me the EVO X is still the best car if you only goal is to go from point A to point B on poorer roads in all kinds of weather conditions faster than anything else. On a set of AD08R's they are in another league.

the Subaru WRX STI 2016 is very similar to the Evos i drove too, it's a far better car than the rubbish reviews..... in fact, the reviews are totally wrong to me.

Yes the new WRX STI is a good car, its as good as an EVO X more or less, shame it took them nearly 8 years to catch up. ;)

Though I'd still take an EVO, the S-AWC is still the best out there, only beaten by the GTR and if I was to buy an EVO now it would be as an every day car particular to use in poorer weather and winter conditions, I'd also go for the SST GSR as I'd want the mod cons and twin clutch DSG style box, big power would not interest me, got the Mustang for that.

It also seems the EVO X hit their peak value wise and seem to be dropping again in price, can pick up FQ-300 and FQ-330 SST models for 12-16k and manual FQ-360's are around 15k.

An FQ 330 SST with basic remap 380/360 would be a great and still exceptionally capable road car. They are also very reliable, only real things to check for are AYC recall and make sure the chain has not stretched.

I bought a new Evo every 2-3 years, starting off with the Evo VIII in 2003 and absolutly gutted that they stopped making them :( I'm still hoping that they'll change their mind and build another in the near future but that really isn't going to happen. I've not found a car so far that iI like more, not even close. I've got an RS on order but I know it's not going to be the Evo.
