Train crash in New Jersey

A witness on CNN just said that the train hit the platform that hard it took off and hit the roof and brought the roof down

The train was going much faster than it was meant to be apparently, as if no one in control.

I thought there was safety systems to prevent something like that, for example incase the driver collapses.

Comments that apparently the safety system failed with fingers pointed (by what appear to be disgruntled ex-staff) at lack of investment and maintenance in relation to those systems.

There's no indication that 'positive train control' was installed at this time.

A report I just heard said that Hoboken is the 5th largest/busiest passenger railhead in the nation.

Sounds like a typical "public transport company fails to follow rules, cries for it to change/lengthen/stall, and still dont follow them" issue.

Funnily enough maybe the massive as **** class action they're about to get will change things.
