What have you done to your car today?

Nah the other side was up a relatively large kerb, I just jacked it up to have some wiggle room to be able to move the ratchet mostly, if it had gone completely flat I just wouldn't have been able to move about. No big issue, car was out the front of my house and plenty of neighbours around to rely on should it need pumping up :D

I can just imagine the distant "HELLO? CAN SOMEONE JACK THIS UP PLEASE? HELP!!" then looking out of the window to see a pair of legs poking out from under a car... :D

Nearly had to make an embarrasing call for help at Anglesey the other month, I was having some brake issues that necessitated adjusting the pedal. I was kneeling next to the car with my head and shoulders in the footwell with just enough room to wield a spanner. I also had my race suit on, and anyone who has worn one, or looked at one closely will know they have 'handles' on the shoulders to give a marshall something to hold onto should they need to pull you from a burning car in a hurry. As I was backing out of the footwell one of the 'handles' snagged on something on the dashboard and I didn't have enough room to get my hands out to free it off. Luckily I manged to wriggle it free before anyone noticed so I managed to avoid becoming the laughing stock of the paddock :p

A couple of people have told similar stories of being stuck in footwells on here. :D

I personally wouldn't be able to deal with it for too long. I get a very claustrophobic after a while!

Spent too long idling tinkering with the music player UI theme settings to get it nice and ambient for night time driving so as not to be a distraction to the eyes. Got the amber elements sorted too

@Joe what's the other classic car in first pic?

Also second pic looks like it could be in a showroom :p

Its a 1974-1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.

Black and gold like the one in Smokey and the Bandit. :D

It is indeed. Paragon are F-body specialists, so there's usually one or two around. The owners have an awesome one which is almost finished being re-done in 'Mountain Dew green'! I'll share some pics once it's done.

2nd photo is at Tyres Northampton. Their premises are actually quite smart; nice waiting areas etc.

Been offered a swap..
My 3 2.2d for a MPS. It's a year older though but only 51k miles.

Wow... dunno what to do.... (would be £45 extra in fuel per month, plus £15 tax, plus god knows what insureace. Not to mention it's a car that I dont know so could throw up some bills)

The 09 shape MPS? Surely that shape is worth twice as much as your car, if so i would snap their hand off. Assuming you have the 09 shape aswell.

Tried to remove some faint scratches from the roof and sadly failed. Scratch X V1 and V2 failed as did various polishes. Seems I will have to leave it for a detailer as I got bored and gave up. I now have a VERY shiny roof, but I know where the scratches are and that is annoying me!!!

Was that by hand or with a machine polisher Housey?

Managed to get some light scratches off the doors of my A4 with my rotary polisher, but by hand I simply couldn't touch them (VAG paint seems to be too hard wearing).

With hand. I think with a rotary polisher I would burn down several acres of land, killing at least 49 people and reducing the life expectancy of half of Staffordshire. I burn water and freeze fire, so adding a plug to something and handing it to me tends to involve death and big insurance claims.

Pay a man I think.

MOT day for the Porsche tomorrow. Now with the amount of work I have put in it should fly through after I put the front plate back on in the morning. I am not going to lie though, every year I get more nervous.

Since last mot we have had new rear coffin arms, new brakes all round, new convertible roof and I also overhauled the handbrake.

My only issue is that the handbrake needs to be pulled every click before it engages as when I put new shoes and springs on I left the shoes fully adjusted back and well off of the disks. Does anybody know the rules? I know there are some around the handbrake and when it engages, should it be engaging earlier? I don't know if I should just adjust it a few notches in the morning to be safe?

Edit: to answer my own question...

Make sure that you handbrake works by pulling away slowly and applying it to make sure that it slows the car.
The handbrake should stop the car from rolling on a hill.
Adjustment: When you pull up the handbrake count the clicks. There should be around 6 clicks before it is fully engaged.

So ill be out there in the morning counting the clicks :)

Cleaned the inside of the windscreen (the valeters had left is slightly smeary) and let some air out of the tyres (they pump them up to the top of the suggested range to save a little bit of money on our fuel cards).

Staffordshire Polisher Massacre?

Staffordshire Polisher Massacre?

I remember the time I tried to use a circular sander for the first time. It was one of the Bosch ones with stick on pads. So I stick the pad on, get to work at which point off flies the sanding disk and hits me on the cheek, leaving a lovely graze for a couple of week. I've still got it, used for 1 hour in a box, all the bits. It's right next to the heat gun I bought at the same time. Dangerous things electirc tools.
