Anyone else had a huge increase of spam emails (Gmail) today?

I usually don't get much at all, a couple a day at the most, but today its been more like 50, all from very random but different addresses all very similar in style and content.

I've not signed up to anything recently and am very cautious with who I give my email too.

Anyone else??

I seem to get endless spam, I un-subscribe from everything I don't want/need any more, try blocking all the random ****e yet still get loads. Always seems to be someone tracking me down after someone has died with the same name who's left a fortune.

Strange. I post my email address publicly on at least 3 websites with no obfuscation at all so you would assume that I get loads of spam email but I don't. I get maybe 5 spam emails a month on average.

I don't understand why some people get so many spam emails.

I've noticed this on my Hotmail account the the Junk filter seems to have stopped doing it's job, which is strange as it usual pretty good

nearly all the spam I get on Hotmail originate from Yahoo email addresses, but there doesn't seem any way to report them to Yahoo

Started getting loads a couple of weeks ago. Supposedly from places like Boots and Oakley sun glasses that all look very similar.

Hmmm, well it seems to have stopped as randomly as it started. nothing since late yesterday evening. At least it was all going in the spam box at least...

I wonder if it was Googles spam filter having an issue or something.

I just had two bits of totally irrelevant spam in my social. Not possible to create a rule to block them either. It might be time to ditch gmail if they are doing this.

I just disabled social.
