Is this technical possible? ( regarding downloading steam games on phone )

so the consensus is, get a laptop, then do it that way, might be worth it

I need to go out into manchester and find some nice hotspots. The buses have free wifi, thats a first check. Then manchester central library, next check

Where are you going? I imagine you'd need to ride the bus all day to download a 30GB+ game :D

Get a cheap laptop, £50 job, shove in a big hdd and go use the free wifi. Get home backup games to USB, restore onto desktop.

laptop can be a POS, doesn't need to be a gaming lappy.

unlimited data on the handset, sure

tethering, only 30gb/month.. that is one option, to buy multiple handsets

I'd probably pay 100 a month for good fast internet, no chance though

Don't you get those USB modem dongle things any more? Surely they'd work in that? There must be a way to abuse the hell out of it.

if there is, I don't know

A lot of people want unlimited tethering, so if there was, there would be more information I guess, plus I think they can detect when its been tethered

OP - What games are you after? If I have anything you want, I can post it on a fresh USB stick and you can copy files to Steamapps then send it back?

thats a very nice offer, however I'm after the past year and half, all the latest ones. I'm building a new rig soon and want some fresh games to celebrate it, If worse comes to worse, I guess I could leave my PC on for a day or so

but thank you for offer I appreciate it

which isn't the worse you can get and should still see you get 4-5mb, line.

are you sure you aren't just with rubbish company, or have other issues

I'm downloading battlefield hardline update at 367KB/s, which is ok, but still 5 hours to download 6GB or so

I'm with sky broadband, and I have tried the master socket route etc

why, why not try and solve the issue.
you should be getting far greater speeds. they will send an engineer out and run tests on the line.

repair it, if needed if outside.
tell you your internal wring needs replacing if its that.
or tell you are in a crap area and nothing can be done.

parents had them come out, they were more than 3 miles from exchange, still got about 1mbs. but turned out it was just poor cabling in the area, and as such no repair would be done. Since then a local fiber exchange as been installed and now they get faster than e :(

what charge if any I cant remember, they can also in the first place run tests from their end on your line.

300kbps at 3 miles is not normal, even in a bad cabled area.

my sky login says, your estimated download speed 2.0 mbps to 5.0mbps, if ther speed is much lower than 2 mbps, please contact us

I can try, but I highly doubt I will get anywhere, and its a giant waste of time dealing with people like this, mind numbing questions about microfilters and have I tried turning it on and off again

I'm getting 3.5mbps to 4mbps so it's within that range, although not optimal, I certainly don't think they will come out for me
