Is this technical possible? ( regarding downloading steam games on phone )

well, that's up to you. but gee. it kind of even tells you something is wrong, as your local area others are getting much higher speeds.

mind boggling attitude.

what speeds are they getting? I have been with bethere before they got bought by SKY, changed my noise margin to 3, and got around 500kbps to 600kbps, which was decent, but that made my line unstable

It's not a mind boggling attitude, I just don't think its worth going to all that hassle for an extra 100kbps, at a push, maybe 150kbps if im lucky

Not mixing up units? 300Kbyte/s would be about the right download speed for a 2-3MBit connection. Actual throughput of 300kbit/s even at 3 miles would mean quite a fault.

Only option i can think of is replacing android on your phone with linux then downloading steam.. D/L your games then copy when you get home?

Ah, so you have 3Mbps~. Have you thought about getting another connection? You can get routers that combine multiple lines.

you mean line bonding? that is interesting, I totally forgot that was an option, I remember when BeThere first released it some years back. that requires the cost of another BT line if I recall, but definitely an option

Yeah, it's perhaps not the most cost effective but at least a thought. Have you checked your local exchange on samknows recently to see if it has any scheduled upgrades?

What games do you require?
You could always post someone a 64Gb USB stick and they could copy the directory for you, send them a pound, and they'll post it back.

If I have it I'll copy the dir for you.

You could make a DIY WiFi booster like in Mr Robot, and aim it around until you find a free WiFi hotspot, then use that.

Probably.

Thats a good idea, I could probably pay a bit extra too, as I will require them when I built a new PC, and paying extra for not worrying about download times would be deal

Basically, most of the triple A titles in the past 2 years

There is FTTC at the exchange, just not at the local cabinet. I contacted openreach and they told me it is not " commercially viable "

my downstream attenuation is 52db

You might be able to get a bit more out of your line if you can reduce noise. If you're already plugged into the master socket then think about installing a filtered faceplate if you haven't. I got an extra 800kbps doing so because of a noisy phone extension. Nothing amazing but it's quite substantial for an already slow connection.

You can enter you line stats here and see if it's worth doing.

I have decided to get EE mobile broadband, 100gb for £75 a month, yes it is expensive, but not many options, the next best option is moving or renting an office space for £50 a week with 800mbps :)

I thought mine was slow because I only get 1.7MBps! That's considered to be a bad line nowadays. My ISP would feed me more at the same price, but testing confirmed I'm getting as good as I'm going to get. 360KBps is tin cans and piece of string territory by modern standards.

Downloading games makes me think about going to fibre, especially when Steam or GOG have a sale. It reminds me too much of the old days, when you'd start a download going before going to bed or work. The speeds are a lot faster (my first use of the internet was at 300bps and my first use at home was at a theoretical 9600bps, i.e. 1KBps if I was lucky) but there's a lot more data to transfer. Although I probably shouldn't bother - when I looked at my GOG account last week I had 109 games installed and at least 90 of them I've never played. No idea what my Steam account is like, but I doubt if it's much different. I've lost track of how often I've liked the look of a game and gone to buy it only to find that I already bought it months ago :)
