Supplements - do you take any daily?

Tried L-Theanine on a few occasions. Obsolutely useless "supplement" for me. All it did was make me feel sleepy. Yes it does promote relaxation... but why the heck would you want relaxation at a time other than bedtime? You can't do anything when you're in a "relaxed" state. It is like cannabis... drive slow, move slow, laze around etc...

5HTP I tried and... Worst. Drug. Ever. Whenever I closed my eyes it made me feel like I was spinning. I had to do a job that day too... something related to woodwork.... couldn't think straight and only when the drug wore off did I get something done. I tried it on 3 or 4 occasions and was the same each time.

L-Tyrosine gave me an insane sex drive the first time I tried it. The second time I took too much and ended up with tourettes-style twitching whilst lying in bed, it was so weird.

Caffiene powder I abused for 2 years and negative side-effects surfaced at the 1 year mark. These included chronic fatigue 3 hours after the caffiene wore off... dizziness, foggy thinking etc. I downgraded to just 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day and all the side-effects went away.

Liquid chalk isn't as tasty as you might think.

After a bit of research:

Omega 3 Fish Oil 1000mg (I don't eat fish with any sort of regularity)
Vitamin D3 10000 IU
Glucosamine Sulphate 1500mg
Magnesium Malate 1250 mg

placebo effect can be quite strong, I don't believe it actually 'lines your stomach' most of the 'good bacteria' actually gets killed in your stomach

if you've got ongoing issues with acid reflux then maybe see a GP/gastro there are better things to reduce stomach acid than rennie
Docs advice would consist of cutting down on the beer. I'd rather just drink an actimel, which works unless you call the instant removal of acid pain just a placebo.

My personal opinion over the years:

Consistency is KING!

Real food is far superior to any protein shake, or convenience meal replacement bar.

You don't need supplements. That's not saying, you should not take supplements or protein shakes as they "can" help but a healthy diet with consistency both training and food will have a significant saving on the purse strings and be more beneficial.

Going back a few years ago a regular meal would include (await wrath):

Osteocare, Psyllium husk, Thermo, MultiVit, BCAA, fish oil and AGF

Now, I take nothing, and have noticed little to no drawbacks.

Yep. And from memory, you're one of a very very very few handful of guys posting here that actually look like they train :p

Used to take pills and powders and potions for Africa. Now I take a prescribed Selinium supplement and nothing else. Obviously no difference from previously either.

But it is quite funny reading all the placebo delusions people get from taking the latest buzzword peptide or powder.

why,
vit c is one of the most abundant in your diet, you are more than likely peeing out vitamin C just from your normal food, let alone two vit c supplements.
what an utter waste of money.

1000mg is only one tablet.

opne good side efect is it does get rid of water bloat and make you look more lean :P

very fun use give someone loads of them and they will latterly pass so much water through their arse it starts coming out clear lol.

its like an internal enema :p

plus the vit -c in the multi tablet.
the 1000mg is more than the body needs on its own.

durrr sorry my bad misread that. thoguht you meant he was taking 2 vit c tablet.

yeah its pointless, but i can have uses, ie if you want to quickly slim up for some pics etc

but larlgey pointless with a good diet.

Four cups of coffee, two knock off sugar free red bull and a can of relentless. Working night shifts and the world doesn't allow me to sleep during the day. My whole existence is one long twisted dream and I just float.

I used to take multi-vitamins but bizarrely I seemed to come down with minor illnesses if I missed a few (more often than if I wasn't taking them at all). It was probably a placebo but it kinda felt like when I was taking tablets my body would let its guard down and my natural immunity would drop off, so as soon as I stopped the supplements I'd catch a cold.

perhaps it would be wise to see a doctor, though perhaps see another one if you've not been given advice on long term options for it other than cutting down on beer - better still get a referral to a gastro

drinking a glass of water or cold milk can give instant removal of acid pain too it isn't really a long method for treating it though, especially if there is some underlying issue
