Let's not forget as the die shrink the cost to produce is higher.
Especially the first products, which need to pay for the investment which runs into billions.
Until we stabilise for 2 gens at 7nm do not expect cheap top of the range gpus or cpus.
Already just started at 14nm for AMD and next one is 7nm in 2018.
i think prices are coming down a bit now there is stock?
maybe not so much in the uk i duno
the 10-series should be good for laptop sales, maybe twice the speed in smaller size?
much more of a jump than desktop, they getting good reviews for that
the 7nm stuff whenever that comes could be rly great
Yup twice the performance and twice the price at least, it's good that you brought up laptop GPU's as they have literally doubled the price due to the new 10 series laptop GPU's.
So yep GPU prices have definitely gone up. Way way way up.
Oh well, I will just try and buy the lesser GPU's from now on. The GTX 1070 is a very nice card and set me back £350.
I had a GTX 1080 at launch but the price didn't sit well with me so passed it on. If I can stick to a budget of around £350 (Circa X70 performance level) then I'll be happy. The super rich can keep paying for Titans etc. Maybe I will pick a used one at some point xD
I miss my 8800 ultra but it wasn't that high when new
1 x XFX 8800 Ultra 768MB GDDR3 Dual DVI TVO HDCP PCI-E 127949 Warehouse Shipped Invoice Track £343.60 £343.60
That's what i paid and that was the best card out at the time.
Have Graphics cards really got more expensive?
Yes
£1099 for a cut down chip with a poor cooler and poor DX12 support is a total joke.
Even the drivers are bad but at least they are free, for now !!!
Again when exchange rates were around two dollars and vat was 17.5% or 15% depending when you bought it.
AT current exchange rate and VAT that price you paid would be over £600 now. Add inflation and its even more.
So you are saying its fine to pay 1080 prices back then but not now?
1070 prices arent actually all that bad now. It's the 1080 that still commands a ridiculous price.
a proud titanp owner? >.<
you are paying because you dont want to wait you know this tho
is that right or not im no sure
i dont think they marketed it this time at gamers atleast?
4months later the ti with custom coolers?
