*** The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Thread ***

EE seem to be the best in all of this.

O2 are advising customers to return their devices via the supplied jiffy bag that's sent out and hand it to their local post office.

Only issue, Royal Mail and Parcel Force have banned handling the Note 7... Online customers cannot go to their stores either. It has to be online

What a shame, I was really looking forward to getting a Note 7.

Ah well, glad I ordered a S7 Edge yesterday, must have seen this one coming.

Will wait for the "Note 8" now, that is if they make one.

So what is everyone going for?

Not sure i'll wait out for the S8, so tempted to get an S7 Edge a lot of similarities to the Note. Pixel isn't really doing it for me either as a spec of aesthetically. I don't do iPhones anymore, and not keen on the LG (not even sure it'll hit the UK?)

Just annoying i'll be on a 2 year contract with an older phone. Fingers crossed on a Note 8 next year and i'll buy one sim free!

I am buying an S7 Edge but not from Samsung... can get it for £40 cheaper elsewhere and if I order in the next 10 minutes it will arrive tomorrow.

I've told Samsung to put a note on my account because I will be claiming the cost for the case etc I bought for the Note 7 from them.

S7 Edge on its way and case / screen protector ordered.

Never going to top the Note 7 but at least it will be faster than the Note 5 I had. Furthermore, I will be installing a Custom ROM and there appears to be a lot more development on the S7 Edge compared to the Note 7... yes I know I am just trying to convince myself that it will be alright :p

I'm also trying to convince myself that I won't notice the slightly smaller screen. :p

Case arriving tomorrow and Edge coming on Thursday.

I used to work in a call centre and common to be asked to stay

Common to be asked but not always outside of opening hours and not always taken up, people have lives too. Don't think it's fair to criticise them closing at their normal time, especially when it's unlikely the guys that end will have any new information.

EE said they will lend me a s7 until the pixel xl is released.

Still in two minds about just keeping the note 7

It's likely that they will do remote updates to limit (possibly even stop?) usage. It wont get any future software support or warranty etc... and clearly a larger fault at hand, I understand what you mean as I love mine, but gotta just accept it and give it back!

I can't imagine Samsung would allow that. They'll probably brick them after a while.

Fingers crossed CPW are prepared to offer a loan phone until their customers can get the handsets they want.

I dont want a stupid pixie phone I want a note 7.... Anyone else a bit gutted about all this? I would keep it but it will be software disabled eventually.

Another possible problem: it might explode the next time you attempt to take it on an airplane. Remember the shoe bomber?

FT reporting tonight that there are already signs of contagion at Samsung as a result of the Note 7 fiasco.

There is already a slowdown in sales of the S7 according to one operator.
