Been watching some documentries on youtube lately on WW3, what do you think, will it ever happen? if so do you think it happen in our life time.

I personally think it will happen within the next 10-15 years i hope I'm wrong, but with all the things that been happening in the world today,I think it's just a matter of time

The big nations are too grown up to do it now, i doubt even putin's mad enough to push the armageddon button.

The closest we came was in 1962 and i doubt we'll see the like again.

However, a small scale nuclear war maybe, probably north korea, but it wont escalate to a worldwide issue.

What we may see is a backlash against the middle east and its various issues permeating into europe, but that wont be a nuclear conflict nor a world war.

The thing that bread the cold war was fear of the unknown, but with mass communication so well established that barrier has been breached, we know the russians arent the bloodthirsty barbarians we feared they might be and they know we're just like them at the end of the day.

I'll be alright if Armageddon happens...I've got a stash of bottle caps saved.

I plan to stockpile booze and then when the time comes, take it with me to the nearest hill to watch the nukes go off.

Were any of these documentaries called 'Team America'?

We accidentally came pretty damn close in 1983 during Able Archer too.

Just been reading up about the various incidents which almost caused war, in 1962, 1983, and at various points between and since.

Scary... :(

Stanislav Petrov comes to mind. He was running the early warning system in the USSR when it alerted him to a missile launch from the USA...and he sat on it. He was, of course, supposed to inform his superior officer. He chose not to.

I always remember watching a documentary back in the 80s saying the next World War would be fought over water - I believed it but I'm a bit dense.

I'm cautious - we are certainly going back towards cold war days - the US is busy restocking last resort combat facilities in Norway, Russia talking provocatively about re-opening bases in Cuba, etc.

The Russian upper echelon seem to be of the opinion that they are being backed into a corner and with the Russian mentality that is a dangerous thing - it is no mistake that Putin is pushing certain propaganda like the whole 28 thing.

I don't think WW3 is necessarily either inevitable or imminent but I don't buy the whole the world is too grown up or there is too much at stake with the development of global economies, etc. that means it won't happen - the same arguments were brought up not long before WW2.

Russian Government Officials Told To Immediately Bring Back Children Studying Abroad

Kind of hard to tell with stuff like that whether its a symbolic message/manipulation in the current game of brinkmanship or whether there is something more serious behind it.
