*** The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Thread ***

Cancelled my N7 order with Three. Went for full cancel as do not want anything else on the market at the monent.

Will put up with my N4 for the time being. As contract has ended, may put the money that was paying o ff the handset aside and then use that in the future for a new handset when I see one that I like the look of

Well, that's the end of the Note line then.

Wouldn't surprise me if they call the next version the S8, S8 Edge and the S8 Pro or something along those lines.

Been sent an official order email from them. Showing as being processed. Now to see is it gets dispatched for delivery tomorrow.

Nice.. are you planning on using this as in interim until the launches of the next S8 versions?

It will be interesting to see if they release Android 7 on the S7/S7E or wait until end of Feb

I have a Nexus 6P at the moment and thinking about the S7E however the big drawback being I'm already on Nougat 7 with USB C

I've been reading on Korean news sites that Samsung still don't actually know what the problem was with the 'safe phones' that were released. It is said they are going to have those that have gone up in smoke from the new batch forensically examined. It makes you wonder if they are suspicious whether these later reports of fires are genuine or simply people trying to damage the brand.

Be interesting to see what if anything they find.

It's also been mentioned that Samsung may send out an update to brick those phones that aren't returned.

It will be an interim depending on what the S8E looks like or if there is a new Note replacement. Maybe even something else.

Total knee jerk reaction. If they're switched off they are fine and a very limited numbers of phones are setting themselves on fire.

Samsung is a strong brand and they could easily bound back with the Note 8. The only worrying thing is even Samsung doesn't know what's causing the fault.

Hmmm you sure, the first replacement Note 7 fire I heard about was when a guy had entered a flight in the states with the phone off and it exploded like the original designed ones.

Closest the customer can come to making it safe as possible is to discharge the battery, but the Royal Mail cant be 100% sure of everyone put their phones in this state when shipping.

I consider the stand point to reasonable.

Surely that only works if you are not using a Custom ROM? For example, I don't have the update that limits the charge levels ;)

True, but who on earth would be irresponsible enough to keep using a phone they have been told could potentially explode or catch fire? Can you imagine the outcry from the authorities if this happens and someone gets hurt. I suspect the user could well face serious charges.

Contract cancelled.

Fingers crossed my Pixel arrives before I have to send this back so that I can do an easy transfer.
