looking for a new graphics card for under £300

I'm looking to start a new build and find myself stuck on which graphics card to get, I've been recommended the "GeForce GTX 1060 Strix OC Aura RGB 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card" by a friend and to be frank it just seems to large and bulky. looking to use a phantek Enthoo Evolv ATX case with a Asus z170-a motherboard. If anyone can think of a better card or a smaller one with similar specs and price tag then that would really help. thanks

Well, I'm taking a punt with a XFX 480 GTR since they are supposed to be pretty good. I'm tired of Nvidia after their antics with the 970, crazy prices and having 3 Geforce cards which are unstable on their factory overclocks now :/

I think spending money on a version such as that is a waste, You can get a 1060 for 50 or 60 quid less which'll probably perform just as well. If I was looking at spending 300 pounds on a graphics card I'd save the extra for a 1070 or I'd spend around £250 instead.

£300 is too much for a 1060.

1070's will clock the same, it's the cooling and warranty you're paying extra for.

£350 gets you a 1070, so there's no way I'd spend £300 on a 1060.

how about something like the GeForce GTX 1070 founders edition? (as you can tell I'm not exactly a wealth of knowledge when it comes to graphics cards)

Nothing wrong with the founders editions but they use the blower type cooler, which means they are a bit hotter / noisier than the third party cards. They will perform the same though.

if you looking at 300 then spend little more and get a 1070 and a lot more performance.

I would go for the reference 1070 with the GOW4 code, then sell the code for £30 and you have a 1070 for £320... well worth the extra £80-90 over a 1060 IMO.
