Hello all, need a bit of help and advice. Any comments etc much appreciated!

My current spec is in my sig and I use my setup for gaming at 1080p on my TV in the living room. Of and general music and tv shows/movies etc. No other uses like mining or graphics design etc, just mainly gaming.

My question is, would it be a worthy upgrade to go from my 3570k @ 4.2Ghz to a 3770k, which I would also overclock. Any gaming benefits?

I see on eBay you can grab a 3770K for about £200 used. I would be able to sell my 3570k for what, £100? So £100 outlay.

Any help much appreciated.... :D

£200 used? I paid £200 brand new from OcUK when they were the current CPU.

£100 just for hyperthreading, doesn't sound worth it at all, even if you're doing things that require HT.

Save the cash for a new platform.

according to the initial benchmark, BF1 seems favour 8 thread cpu. Other than that game, you won't be seeing much difference in spending that £100.

I think you'd be lucky to clear £100 on the 3570k. Sold mine for £97 before fees on ebay earlier this week. As above, I don't think it's worth the swap just for hyperthreading, you aren't going to be doing anything that benefits from it.

I upgraded my 3570K to a 2600K for BF1 and it has definitely helped me get more out of my 1080. But I got it dirt cheap and it only really helps for >60fps gaming.

I wouldn't recommend buying a 3770K from ebay for £200, bit of a rip off TBH.

Cheers for all the replies guys, guess I may aswel stick for the time being then.:D

So my 3570k is more than capable for current 1080p 60fps gaming? Maybe even future proof for a few more years yet?

I made the same upgrade, both at 4.3. The gains are very game dependant and out of the bigger titles I've played regularly, the division was one of few where I could hit 100% cpu load on the i5. Anything heavy on physics and you will see an improvement. Well worthwhile given your spec if you can sell your Ivybridge and have the cash.

honest price i5 is 80 ish a 3770 is worth about 100-120. no more. its not really worth it unless you sell for 80 and get one for 100-120

My i5 3570k was a poor clocker. I could get 4.4Ghz out of it but not without 1.32 volts to make sure it was absolutely stable. It appeared stable on lower volts at 1.28 but kept BSOD on me at times. 4.2Ghz was the most i could get out of it stable at reasonable volts and decent temps. 1.2 volts roughly. Anyway got a i7 for just over 100 quid 3770k and it can do 4.6 Ghz easily at 1.265 volts and great temps all be i have de-lidded it too. For me its been worth it. Better minimums and better performance in odd games. I could run faster memory too without stability issues also.

Ive noticed on Forza Horizon 3 my 3570k is at a constant 100% usage, however the game is known for it's stability issues atm. Even top spec rigs are struggling.

Ive checked on eBay and it seem a 3770k sells for the £200 mark. :(

Exactly the same as my 3570k! I am current at 4.2Ghz @1.2v. For me to reach 4.4Ghz I need 1.32 and 4.5Ghz is just out of reach due to vcore and heat.

honestly i have had 2 3770K and 3 2600K and the 2600K were all faster once they had been overclocked, they ran a bit cooler than even a delided 3770K as well. paying £200 now for a cpu that was £220 brand new 4 years ago in insane, i have seen them go for £80 on the members market before. even a 3930K is £120 these days and that has 6 cores  2600K/2700K should be much cheaper.
