Restore from your backup.

If you didn't make one, then next time use Macrium Reflect to create weekly backups.

Use another computer or a Ubuntu live CD to recover your data from the drive and reinstall Windows.

Good time to jump to W10, assuming you've already registered your PC for the free upgrade.

Most likely what it'll do is try to continue configuring updates, and once it hits 100% it change to failed configuring windows updates and revert all the changes which will take time and a few restarts to complete.

How can I tell, I got the upgrade icon, but it never offered the actual win10 download??

System restore has the done the trick for me in the past. Saved me from having to rebuild a 3d inventor workstation after a power cut.
