Nissan Qashqai, USB autoplaying when car starts - annoying!

Hi All,

3 days ago I had my new Qashqai delivered and I am loving it, however there is one thing annoying me. When I use the USB to play music from a USB stick it always plays when the engine starts. If I am listening to music and turn it off then stop the car and turn the engine off, as soon as I start again I am blasted by music. I have to wait a few seconds to turn it off or even down.

I have looked over the manual and gone through what I believe to be all the settings in the car, but found nothing to turn it off.

Does anyone know how to do something about this?

Thanks

It sounds normal, assuming the USB was the last source used

What sounds more odd is the volume aspect - does it reset every time the car turns off? The head unit itself may have a setting in this case

Surely its just playing on from where it left off?

Sounds like perfectly normal and logical behavior to me.

It would annoy me if I'd turned the audio system off prior to stopping the car previously.

But I think I'd rather suffer that behaviour than the opposite, i.e. having to manually start playback every time!

Speak to Nissan, see if it's been raised before and if there's a firmware update or hidden setting.
If there isn't then at the very least you would have reported it.

How are you turning it off? Let me know and I'll have a look at ours and see if it does the same. I do sometimes seem to notice it changing sources and things a little randomly when I start the engine, generally would use the USB or Bluetooth but sometimes it decides it wants to play the CD.

Can't say it's bothered me enough to try and work out why or when it does it.

Have a look to see if you have a setting for start up volume.

If you pull the stick out does the radio come on at the same volume?

I will do this if I cant find an answer online.

I am pressing the off button and the screen says 'Audio Off' with the USB symbol next to it.

I have looked but not found anything, I will test the stick theory next time I am in car.

Sounds a bit odd, on the both Volvo and Scania trucks at work (and my partners Focus) USB only resumes on start-up if it was the last used source, otherwise it defaults to radio / aux etc, I know this because I keep my car keys (with usb stick) in the usb slot so I don't misplace them in the truck whilst working but predominantly listen to the radio and after restarting the radio comes straight back on..

It does sound odd that if I turn something off, it starts again when the car is started. To add, only the USB does this as all other sources do not turn on automatically if they were last used.

Did a little testing and mine does the same if I press the off button before pressing the stop/start button. However if I press the stop/start button first and then the off button the screen goes black and persists when it starts again. I think that was how it worked, it definitely seemed to act differently depending on when it was turned off.

Tried this and no difference :(

What year is your car?
